Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) needled fellow Republican Sen. Mitt Romney (Utah) in an op-ed in The Washington Post on Friday, arguing that the GOP doesn't need "more distractions."
"The mainstream media and Democrats want to further divide Republicans, and now Romney has played right into their hands," Perdue wrote.
"Jeff Flake (Ariz.) filled that role before his retirement; the last thing we need now in the Senate is a Jeff Flake on steroids. We certainly dont need more distractions. We need constructive leaders who want to get things done."
Perdue invoked Flake, a vocal critic of President Trump who retired this month, while responding to an op-ed that Romney wrote in the Post earlier this week. In the op-ed, Romney slammed Trump's character, saying that it fell short of what the country needed.
The Georgia senator argued Friday that Romney, a former GOP presidential nominee, "made the same mistake that many Republicans did in 2012 a mistake that cost him the White House."
"Like others who have run for president and failed, Romney has taken a stance that smacks of jealousy and resentment. It does nothing but serve the radical liberal left and further divides conservatives," he argued.
Perdue closed the op-ed by asking Romney to fall in line with the rest of the party.

AMEN!!! ENOUGH of FLAKEY WANNABEES!!
Perdue is one of only 5-6 US Senators that side with the citizens and the rule of law.
Most of the rest side with illegal aliens and their employers.
Great response by Purdue. Too bad we dont see any other Rs defending Trump.
Ah, the palpable irony from the man who failed to get elected to the presidency, calling out the man who did get elected for coming up short.
How is backstabbing your own party's president, one who threw his support behind your Senate candidacy, not a failure in your own character, Mitt?
Remember this is not the first time Romney has done this. He came out with a vicious and unprovoked personal attack on Trump during his presidential campaign in 2016.
He miscalculated then and Trump went on the win the election, despite Romney's scathing rhetoric against him. He has misjudged Trump again. It is Romney who will bear the slings and arrows of criticism, not Trump.
I agree with Perdue. Romney is just Flake v2.0 with a prettier face. Or maybe McCain v2.5 with a bigger knife. All three are backstabbers.
Explains one of the reasons why the democrats want to hurry with impeachment - theyre pretty confident they can flip 11 (sic) republican senators to vote for removal from office. I think its not out of the real of possibility. Romney is a for sure vote so that makes only 10.
Republicans should contact Romneys offices every day and let him know we know hes a POS and hes not fooling anyone.
Romney and Flake are members of that class of mormons who will shake your hand and stab you in the back as soon as you aren’t looking. You know, the Harry Reid class of mormons.
67 votes are needed for a conviction in the Senate....two-thirds, in other words.
There are 47 democrats....including the two so-called “Independents”.....and 53 GOP senators.
Assuming all 47 democrats vote for a conviction, they would need 20 members of the GOP to vote for a conviction, correct, not 11.
Can’t see that happening, unless they want a firestorm to erupt in America.
Thanks -thought it was 3 / 5 ( 60 votes)
Romney is not very bright. He did not anticipate the obvious reaction to his comments. He revealed his lack of character when he stabbed the man who endorsed him in the back. If he had attacked Obama that way he might have been elected president. These low life Republican only attack conservatives that way. His comments, however, did receive some positive views: Chuck Schemer, Nancy Pelosi, Al Sharpton etc.
I like Perdue
You nailed it very well.
He threw the election and let Obama win, IMO.
We can be sure that he’ll do more and more back stabbing. The Rats and the media will use him like a rented mule.
Bingo. Romneys problem is that he is dumb! This is the akilies heal of the elitist.
Mitt Romney?
Never heard of him.
It’s a good thing that many people are finding out that many people in Washington are phonies not just the Democrats but Republicans as well.
Yes. If we had an honest media, the Rat’s and RINOs wouldn’t stand a chance.
Here are a few instances if homicidal tendencies among LDS I tried to be non-repetitive, except for the LeBarons:

It’s all about mantels. So is Romney.
No need to hit below the belt.
