Sen. David Perdue: Mitt Romney makes the same mistake that cost him the White House
Washington Post ^ | Jan 5 2019 | David Perdue

Posted on 01/05/2019 7:10:51 AM PST by rintintin

n a recent op-ed for The Post, “The president shapes the public character of the nation. Trump’s character falls short,” Mitt Romney made the same mistake that many Republicans did in 2012 — a mistake that cost him the White House.

With his attempted character assassination of the president, a fellow Republican, Romney put self-interest ahead of the larger national interest: conservative Republican governance. The op-ed brought to mind 2012, when many Republicans chose to divide the party by continually bashing each other. Romney eventually discovered that many discouraged GOP voters decided to stay home on Election Day.

" “and maybe look for wisdom to lead the nation by staring at stones in a hat.”"

Would these be the stones that fell from mitt's head?

Trump is THE leader of the Republican party....that now excludes two-time loser Mitt Romney, nowhere Bill Kristol,
and ex-Gov John Kasich (who was offered a job in the WH mail room). If Mitt kisses Mitch’s ass on broadcast TV at high noon,
he may be readmitted....but there's no guarantees.

ROTFLOL......priceless.

McRomney just got richly rewarded, for this bad behavior, by Mitch.

Romeny is now on the highly sought after Foreign Relations Committee.

Can you say Foreign lobbyist $$?

I hear Romney hates being called the “Jr. Senator” from Utah.

Would make a great FR tagger.

Romney took Trump to task for his immoral lifestyle, slamming him for being divisive, destructive, and sexist......

See, being a missionary worked out well for Mitt.

How does a Jr Senator get assigned to such a cushy, typically Sr Senator committee....the Foreign Relations committee....like Jr Senator from UT just did?

That....and, wrote the right OpEd?

That’s sundance’s theory, anyway.

That Milt’s OpEd was a trial balloon. Midge can’t directly go after POTUS, but his newest Jr Senator can.

Who knows, anymore?

Boy ain't that the truth - it takes very little effort to objectively learn that Mormonism is a bunch of crap. There were newspapers around when Joseph Smith was engaged in his life of crime.

That people choose to cloak this scam as legitimate belief system and follow it is their choice but don't expect the vast majority of people with a brain to participate in the delusion.

By definition believing in Mormonism demonstrates one lacks the critical thinking skills to avoid stupid things which makes one a tad bit stupid at best.

In retrospect how I ever expected Romney to win a national election well - I guess I myself was being stupid

For those who think I'm just being a religious bigot I say pull your head out of your posterior.

Joseph Smith was shot dead in a gun fight attempting to escape out the back window of a jail because the people of the town were coming to lynch him after he had been plying his skills as a conman and swindling the locals. If you can't figure out this guy was a bad dude you might just be a moron - err mormon.

Mitch Romney seems to be cut from the same cloth.

My impression is that Trump (had he been there) would have turned to his guy on the sidelines, and asked for ‘facts’, and 30 seconds later....Trump would leveled Crowley, and said this is why CNN can’t be trusted.

Get used to it. Just because we here see Romney as a phoney and a backstabber, doesn’t mean he is seen the same way by the parasites and drones of the beltway. After all, he hasn’t done anything they wouldn’t have done themselves, and he is after all an “influential” figure.

Initially I was opposed to David Perdue when he ran for senator. I voted for someone else in the primary and then reluctantly voted for him in the general election. He has pleasantly surprised me by mostly voting the right way and supporting Trump.

I believe each new senator gets at least one assignment on one of the ‘big’ committees; such as Finance, Foreign Relations, Armed Services.

Mitt wanted Finance, usually considered the most powerful committee.
