Just like the brilliant city council here. They did away with the tornado sirens and made the alerts by cell phone text messages .... brilliant, just to keep from waking up the employees at the city departments. They paid hundreds of thousands for a system that will fail and scrap one that worked. But these are the same people that paid for radio systems for the fire department that couldn’t communicate with the police or hospitals.
Every smartphone should come with a blue pill.

I just got a new “smart”phone (ie. mini computer) to replace my “flip”.
But, I noticed this nonsense in DC some 4 years or more back.
Not only do I not like paying this way, but to follow the directions is a pain in the butt. Why not just straightforward cash?
Are they going to provide a “snow removal” app to go with the pay app? </s>
So what happened, did the campaigns for the mayor and city council get bankrolled by the failing Apple corporation, which is desperate to sell more smartphones?
Just one more reason to take the bus, if you can. Who in heck wants to wallow in traffic jams to find limited parking options, if they can help it? As long as you can take a concealed weapon with you, the bus should be fine.
Do I get a free smartphone or do I have to pay money to a private for profit business before I can deal with my government?

Cash always used to work, all the time, for everybody.
Imagine the outrage if they used this app to vote, It would last two seconds and be called racist.
St. Louis has a similar system that somehow lets out of state drivers pay but not show up as paid on the police’s system. I have seen this in other cities as well. Just a little too convient that out of staters cannot hang out for a day to correct the issue. In St Louis the tickets can only be contested in person which can take hours at their inner city office.
