Cold weather no longer is acting as a deterrent to the marauding mobs of teenagers (of no particular demographic characteristic, according to Chicago mainstream media) roaming through Chicago's showcase shopping district along Upper Michigan Avenue around the Water Tower. News of the attack could not be ignored, because the famous Water Tower Place Mall had to be closed and because the mob sent an innocent bystander waiting on a subway platform to the hospital.
CWB Chicago, the feisty neighborhood blog that does not shy away from facing Chicago's descent toward anarchy, reports:

You’re right, but it depends where you live that determines how long that will take. We’re 20 minutes from Christiana Mall in Delaware. It is far enough from the crappy Wilmington neighborhoods that they don’t get much, if any riff raf there. Plus, more importantly, there seems to be visible security there every time we’ve gone there. Lots of high end stores, clean, well dressed customers of all races, creeds and colors, behaving politely and enjoying their shopping or dining experience. Hopefully that lasts for a long time.
They've been doing that for awhile now, it just doesn't make the news much.
Watch tomorrow's news in Chicago. The big New Years Eve celebration happening in the city will be at Chicago's Navy Pier tonight, expected to be jammed to capacity. Already announcements all over the radio that security will be "stepped up" there as the Chicago PD is already expecting trouble there.
I'd bet good money there'll be news about something that happens there tonight.
Most malls are simply no longer a working model; I miss visiting some brick & mortar stores (in a mall or stand-alone), but too many simply can’t compete with alternatives with far lower overheads (including “urban youth” and the costs they bring). Malls today are what urban downtown shopping areas were 60 years ago - and face the same fate (extinction, roamed by unproductive people).
All kidding aside what can be done long term with these feral children/adults?

Rahm doesn’t care anymore. He’s not running for re-election and I expect the slide into total debauchery in Chicago to be in full swing before the next mayor is sworn in.
Shoot on sight would work. Act like an animal, get put down like an animal.

The malls near me are full of people carrying concealed firearms.
People are surprisingly polite.
As a conservative I’m just outraged that some D voters are attacking some other D voters in a D party city, totally outraged.
Please stop it, or as a conservative I will send a sternly worded message to someone who doesn’t care, or something.
Malls are closing soon.
We went to our mall Saturday to see if anything was left ate Sears worth buying. Even the shelves were gone, anything left was not worth buying, even at 75% off.
Our K-Mart is closing in March.
Penny’s will be gone soon, as well.

If you can’t buy a food court meal for less than $12, you’re in the first.
It’s easy to tell which is which. If the food court has a BK, McD’s, Popeyes, or Arby’s, you’re in the second mall.
The people who “wish there were cheaper eating options” don’t realize that they really don’t want them.
