From the Verizon FIOS email:
"Despite what you may be hearing from Disney, we have been negotiating a renewal agreement to keep their networks, which include those from Disney and ESPN, as well as ABC affiliates in Philadelphia and New York, in our lineup.
Disney is currently proposing that Verizon pay hundreds of millions of dollars more for its programming, despite the fact that many of its key networks are experiencing declining viewership. ... Weve given Disney a reasonable offer to continue providing you access to its networks. Unfortunately, as of today, they have rejected our offers and there is a possibility that we wont be able to reach an agreement with them prior to our contract expiration on December 31, 2018 at 5pm EST.
...
Thank you for choosing Verizon"

VZ should simply ask themselves: ‘What would President Trump do?’.
There’s their answer - don’t give Disney another inch. Not only is espn viewership down, it will be getting worse all through 2019.
End result: Your monthly bill is going up.

Cable does this with local stations and national networks occasionally. Cable blames them; they blame greedy cable. Some stations may be blacked out for a few days. They finally reach agreement. My cable bill increases.
Getting rid of Disney would be “addition by subtraction.”
Verizon should dump Disney, then reduce the customer’s bills by the same amount, WITH a letter explaining why their bill went down.................
I love the smell of an establishment media death watch after lunch.
Moral victories are fleeting - financial ruin is where it's at.
They should tie the fees to viewers.
Sounds like Verizon is having the same issue with content providers that Dish Network has struggled with over the years - Media conglomerates that require carriers to carry ALL of their channel offerings - even the ones nobody watches - and to pay royalties for ALL of those channels -
Verizon should divest from Yahoo as well, now a combined operation with old AOL and Yahoo and oddly enough called Oath.com.
Oath to who is the question? beats me. It’s just one more front for the Leftists globally.
Walt Disney must be spinning in his grave when he sees what has become of the Magic Kingdom.
At least I will still be able to watch the College Playoff semifinals. Hopefully negotiations will be ironed out before the championship game. This is Disney foisting the cost of overpaying for Monday Night Football and the NBA on subscribers.
I think my cable bill would drop $10 a month if we were not forced to pay for ESPN.
Dump the cable package entirely. It was the best thing I ever did. Peace and quiet and when I do want to watch something, it’s a calculated choice and my options are limited to Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube mostly. Still plenty to watch but if it’s not to be found there, I’m blissfully not watching it.
Screw Verizon! They have dumped American workers for H1bs for years.
What needs to have a serious look into are the policies of all the present telephone wire and digital cable providers both local and national. Particularly Of how by congressional act they were required to give a disconnection immediate attention If a system failure happens and your phone goes out. Now you can wait a week or longer to be reconnected.
If you attempt to report a complaint you’re dealing with some foreign sounding person who haven’t a clue of what you’re talking about and get redirected to their sales department then bounced back and forth.
Don’t forget Redbox.
They have all the first run movies, BluRay, DVD or streaming.
Pay as you go.
I only watch 4-6hrs per week, much of that Ancient Aliens lol
I have Verizon internet (100/100) and basic, basic TV (8 HD local channels).
$59 a month including fees and taxes.
Anytime they’ve tried to bump up the price, I’ve called to cancel. Once they hand me off to the person who can flip the switch, I get my pricing back.
Does anybody really have fiberoptic connection at their house?
If you have only a 'garden hose' at the house, what difference does it make to have a fire hose at the end of the block?
It isnt just ESPN viewership and has very little to do with politics. If you look at the data almost all cable channel viewership is down due to folks cutting the cord in order to alacart their preferences. Trust me, once ESPN is able to allow for direct subscription they will be one of the highest in subscribers
I have straight fiber 1000 mb/s (gigabit service) My data tests at their best are 800 down and 900 up. It makes a huge difference in the number of concurrent connections that utilize the bandwidth. When I have my kids on the weekend they stream, I stream they Xbox I Xbox and it is seemless
Can you say how central you are to an urban center? (Suburbs or downtown?)
