Chuck Schumer vows to continue his government shutdown forever rather than fund a wall:
President Trump, if you want to open the government, you must abandon the wall, plain and simple.
Schumer claims the Democrats are open to discussing any proposal as long as they do not include anything for the wall. Sure they are.
This is all theater, of course. Hugh Hewitt says the shutdown is Schumers fault

They can permanently layoff all these government slackers as far as Im concerned. Then, we can start with some other useless departments. The longer this goes the more we will find out how useless these non-essentials become.

Excellent article:
The Democrats have staked their future on importing voters in violation of the law, since the voters they already have mostly prefer not to have many children. Republicans, in turn, have staked their future on preserving the rule of law, and on preserving an America more or less like the one we know. It comes down, ultimately, to a contest between preserving America vs. preserving the Democratic Party. Despite the smoke screen laid down by the media, I think the Republicans should win this one.
Well said!

This could all be solved with a 51-vote reconciliation.
___
Not sure they could even get that. Rinos.

Yup. Corker and Flake would vote against it because they are losers and don’t care.

Kiddo, the numbers are less important than the reason the Impeach Ms. Pelosi....and perhaps, Schumer while we’re at it. It would be nice for a change to hear viable reasons for impeachment rather than a politically dislike of a person is the reason.

Ideal situation: Schumer holds out for long enough for President Trump to redirect a couple billion of defense money for the wall and builds a hundred miles of it. Schumer and Pelosi bark but the caravan gets stopped.

5. Some women petrified about losing abortion rights. Why anyone needs an abortion when there are dozens of ways to prevent pregnancy? And not expensive either.

OK, so the terms are simple and plain. The Wall is supported by all of Trump's base, by most Americans and is opposed by Chuck Schumer. Trump must hang tough on this. This is Schumer's shutdown, and he must be held accountable.

They just need to dig in until the mew Senate takes over and Flake is gone. Then vote for the rule change of a 51 vote simple majority.

All Schumer has to do is hold out until January 3 when the new Congress is sworn in. After all, our side's pundits have all been saying how the "shutdown" is really no shutdown at all because the government is basically closed for the holidays.
After the new year, the House appropriation bill with the wall funding expires with the 115th Congress and Pelosi can pass a new appropriation bill without the wall funding.
Then, the ball is back in McConnell's court, where he will cave as usual.

They just need to dig in until the mew Senate takes over and Flake is gone. See my post #58. When the new Senate takes over, the House bill from the 115th Congress will expire and the new Pelosi bill will not have the wall funding in it.
There is nothing for Republicans to dig in for, but everything for the Democrats to dig in.
