Support for building a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border jumped to its highest level on record, Quinnipiac University announced Tuesday, reporting results of its latest poll:
This is the highest level of support for the wall since the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN- uh-pe-ack) University National Poll first asked the question in November 2016.
Forty-three percent of voters support building the border wall, while 54% oppose it, according to the national survey of 1,147 voters, conducted Dec. 12-17, 2018.
The record 43% support represents a five-point jump from its August 15, 2018 level of 38% and is up seven points from its year-ago level of 36% (Dec. 13, 2017). Back on April 20, 2017, only 33% of voters nationwide supported building a border wall.
By party affiliation, Republicans overwhelmingly support building the wall, Democrats overwhelmingly oppose it, and Independents are divided:
Republican Support: 86%
Democrat Opposition: 90%
Independents: 47% Support, 51% Oppose
Kind of a misleading headline, I would say.
We’re getting a wall, and those who don’t want it can move South of it as fast as they can. I’ll help.
I wonder what it would be if it was changed from ‘wall’ to border barrier or fence?
I wonder if the term ‘wall’ like Berlin Wall, kills it for some people.
I am just asking
Yes................
and this is normally a left wing leaning poll!
The money quote here is:P “five-point jump”
Last time we saw political opinion shifts of that magnitude was after the first Republican Presidential debate.
LOL! Yeah, right. If most voters really wanted the wall, we would have a majority Republican and more conservative House of Representatives. If they really wanted the wall, they wouldn’t be threatening to drop the vote or vote against President Trump. If they really wanted the wall, they’d quit their government and government contractor jobs to work in the private sector instead of always pushing for bigger government spending.
I gave $100 to the GoFundMe account for the wall this morning. Was up to $4.4 million when I donated.
Fifty-four percent were in favor of building a wall in a Harvard Harris poll earlier this year. The last Rasmussen poll had the number at 50%.
Since so many voters are yelling for dropping support for Trump, Republican Party heads are probably already looking for another candidate—maybe someone who is more politically correct and would get much more of the multicultural vote.
Call it “Invasion barrier” or “Illegal Immigration Prevention Wall” or “Immigration enforcement Wall”.
This is a poll of registered voters, 20% of them will never vote. Almost all of them are Democrats. This is a winning hand. Politicians will pay attention to this, they won’t want to be on the wrong side.
Heard it was up to $5.2M...............
Gee, Grandpa, you mean if this is really popular with the people of the United States, that the Democrats could be in trouble if they oppose it?
Yes, Billy, thats true.
Another leftist organization spewing garbage... It’s called “damming with faint praise”...
The contempt the GOP has for it’s base is incredible. It’s just flat out hatred.
The people in power don’t answer to the voters...they answer to whoever pays them

If the supporters all donate... I did.
For my reasoning for the donation, I wrote something similar to the following:
To make it safer for people on both sides of the border, to inhibit illegal drug and human trafficking, and to give the finger to the radical left, the MSM and the corrupt political class.
