WASHINGTONThe U.S. military is preparing to withdraw its forces from Syria, people familiar with the matter said Wednesday, a move that marks an abrupt reversal of the American military strategy in the Middle East.
U.S. officials began informing partners in northeastern Syria of their plans to begin an immediate pullout of American forces from the region where they have been trying to wrap up the campaign against Islamic State, the people said.

You are right, but only be degrees, and I am not sure if the relative immediate difference is more significamt to the Kurds in the long run. Yes, both Turkey and Iran have made generalized military attacks on some Kurdish locations within their borders, though they usually tried to associate such attacks with “militant” Kurdish groups operating within their borders, and meanwhile many Kurds in both Turkey and Iran having not experienced such attacks and even a Krudish political party sits in Turkey’s parliament - and I know of no such party under the Assads in Syria. And part of that difference is that the Assads were more effective at preventing militarized Kurdish groups from operating inside Syria, and thus able to use political control without resorting to the tactics like Turkey and Iran - until Syria became totally destabilized and the Kurds were able to control and run their own space in Syria.
