A federal judge lambasted former national security adviser Mike Flynn in court Tuesday, threatening to upend a proposed agreement between him and prosecutors that he should receive a lenient sentence after his extensive cooperation with investigators.
Im not hiding my disgustmy disdainfor this criminal offense, said U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan. He questioned whether Mr. Flynn had truly accepted responsibility for his crimes, including lying to FBI agents, and suggested he might require incarceration, despite prosecutors contention that Mr. Flynn deserves no jail time.
Judge Sullivan seemed especially troubled by Mr. Flynns lobbying work for Turkish interests and his attempts to undermine the foreign policy of the Obama administration during the weeks between Election Day 2016 and President Trumps inauguration. Mr. Flynn wasnt charged with crimes for those actions.
All along, you were an unregistered agent of a foreign country while serving as the national security adviser to the president of the United States, said Judge Sullivan, who was appointed by President Clinton and has a history of expressing himself vividly in court. Arguably that undermines everything this flag over here stands for. Arguably you sold your country out.

no way Flynn lied - so clearly he is shielding someone, maybe his son. this judge seemed a little off the beam today - i mean, treason??? - he seems bent on sentencing Flynn for lying. in delaying sentencing is he intimidated Flynn into “composing” for Mueller between now and March? what the heck? this has gone from bad to worse.
As I predicted, Sullivan would not move one inch against Mueller.
“Mr. Flynn wasnt charged with crimes for those actions.”
If Flynn wasn’t charged with any of those, why did the Judge even bring it up in the court room? It has nothing to do with what he’s charged with.

There is a reason Lady Liberty has a blindfold on.. and a bottle of Maalox and a barf bucket handy.
There is always more to the story than anyone knows.
I think the judge at first was trying to shame Flynn into changing his plea because he smells a rat in the prosecution case and when that didn’t work the judge switched tactics by continuing the case until March so Flynn realizes that he could actually do jail time after thinking that he wouldn’t and that this would be all over today. Now he’s looking at 3 more months of being jerked around by Mueller, paying additional legal fees and possible jail time to protect his family from an over zealous prosecutor.
If Trump doesn’t pardon Flynn he might as well stop Tweeting about the Witch Hunt.
And then the article says: "Judge Sullivan offered Mr. Flynn the opportunity to delay his sentencing until he had completed his cooperation with all government investigations..."
I don't get it. Flynn asked for a delay, and the Judge also recommended Flynn to take the delay? Can anyone explain that one to me?
Judge did a fairly good job of forcing the prosecutors to admit that all Flynn is cooperating on is the Turkish business and that it’s HIGHLY debatable that what he’s pleading guilty to, lying to the FBI when he didn’t even know he was being interviewed about a supposed crime, was a crime at all. This is actually a huge win for Trump.
I think Judge Sullivan conducted this hearing under a serious false assumption that Flynns work for Turkey equaled Flynns being a foreign agent, thus assuming that Flynn might face far more serious later charges than was the case. I think that influenced the judges approach to the hearing until he realized his mistake during the recess.
A cluster**** that will have to undone by some means.
Ridiculous. How long has this judge had this case?
A Federal judge is supposed to be sober, calm and measured in his judgements. Why is he flying off the handle and making statements he needs to retract moments later???
It’s bizarre.
“Are you continuing to accept responsibility for his false statements?” Judge Emmet Sullivan asked. “I am, your honor,” Flynn loudly responded.
Why???
How could anyone expect to get fair treatment from a judge like this?
The only thing I can think of is he is protecting his son from Mueller’s assured prosecution and destruction by sticking to the deal that got Mueller to promise that Flynn’s son was off-the-table.
How could anyone expect to get fair treatment from a judge like this?
Don’t expect any fair treatment from the legal system. It is a game played by those in power.
I personally would not trust anyone in a court room. Lawyers, Judges and especially the jury since they make their decisions on emotion and not facts.
WTF? I wonder how many kids this guy has molested? So much for throwing it out, huh? Flynn supposedly lied to the FBI, but Mueller, his assistant prosecutors and the entire leadership of the FBI and DOJ are a bunch of lying, treasonous bastards and Flynn gets lectured.
I’m sorry, at that point, I’d have said, “You know what, judge, you’re as big a piece of shit as Comey and Strzok. With all due respect, F**k you!”
Outside of the foolish treason statement that he later backtracked, the Judge did get the defense and prosecution to admit that Flynn is admitting to lying to the FBI only because Mueller is threatening to charge him in the Turkey mess. The Judge obviously read the 302s like the rest of us and found nothing to Flynn lying and kept trying to get Flynn to withdraw his plea deal and after a break Flynn and his lawyers agreed to delay the sentencing. Obviously they got a hint to take the delay when they really wanted to get it over with.
No, ‘cause he won’t be getting one.
It’s the total lack of professionalism that gets me.
Flynn copped a plea deal,he agreed to cooperate, testify at upcoming trial,if he changed or told the judge I withdraw my guilty plea Mueller comes down on him in some other way.
Seems like the judge wanted Flynn to change his plea,he must have some problem with this whole thing,so he postpones sentencing again until Flynn supposedly testifys at some trial. If there is any trial, who the hell knows
