Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think I’d ever have heard the words “cutting back” coming from Lemmy Kilmister’s mouth.

He was one of those guys who thrived on heavy drinking, heavy smoking and heavy drug use.

He works too hard to be true to that image he has carefully cultivated.

Bingo.

“Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think I’d ever have heard the words “cutting back” coming from Lemmy Kilmister’s mouth.”

Lemmy was on a tape about Ozzie Osbourne.
Lemmy stated he himself had no problem being an alcoholic but Ozzie hated.

“As ill-advised as it might sound, there seems to come a point in the life of many old alcoholics, where it’s more dangerous physically to quit drinking than to continue.”

There was one of those old drunks around when I was small. The docs got him down, over a period of time, to a pint a day. Anything less and he was in real trouble.
The sheriff always kept a couple of pints handy in case the old boy ran out on a weekend when the ABC store was closed.
He was in his early 80’s when he was killed by someone after money.
Who robs the town drunk because he might have cash?

Indeed not. He never was, but it quite obviously is good for the brand.

Dean Martin’s glass was usually filled with Apple juice on ice.

Beef jerky doesn’t die so Keith is safe. A combination of being smoked and preserved in alcohol.

I saw them in 78. 2.5 hours late, show was over in 45 minutes and then a riot ensued as folks stormed and started destroying the stage. Good times:-)

“Keith isn’t the out of control druggie people make him out to be.”

Keith did drink and used just about every drug imaginable but the band used their arrests to promote themselves as the Bad Boys of rock.

The Beatles were the more clean cut, better dressed band.
Mick and Keith used their arrests as a contrast to the other super popular band of the time.
It was all about the PR.

His book “Life” was one of the best autobiographies I’ve ever read, and I’ve read a lot of them.

If someone would have told me, 20-30 years ago, that Keef would write a better ‘autobiography’ than Winston Churchill, I would have thought them nuts, but he did.

Dean Martin did the same thing—cultivated an image of being a heavy drinker. It was all a gag. Don’t get me wrong, he drank, just not to the excess of his PR reps.

That seems about right! The Glimmer twins, almost any song in two beats you know it’s the stones. Got my tickets for the spring.

My favorite rock and/or roll song is typically one of three...

Like A Rolling Stone
Whipping Post

and, if I was really pushed, I would choose “Gimme Shelter” - an amazing track with an equally amazing story behind Merry Clayton’s vocals.

Merry’s story....and if you listen closely, you’ll hear Mick shout “Whoah” during her 3rd take
