Equality, or ‘equity’ as the SJWs call it. An unmitigated disaster.

The dedicated students working hard to succeed do not deserve the socialist confiscation of their educational pathway.

One wonders, however, how many of their parents voted for Warren Wilhelm Jr (aka de Blasio)?

In a way, good - NYFC deserves to reap what it has sewn.

OTOH, all of those whites and Asians will go to surrounding areas and continue to vote for liberals/Leftists, not comprehending that this particular voting pattern is what forced them to leave. They are like a plague of locusts, destroying one area, then leaving for greener pastures...which they promptly destroy.

Whoa, shoot. He should read about Pasadena Unified in So Cal. They started busing kids to schools across town, so schools were no longer neighborhood schools. Ghetto kids were mixed into upscale neighborhood schools. The school district spent millions of dollars on BUSES, not teachers.

Unintended consequences - Pasadena has a good number of very nice private schools. Pasadena Unified has lost about 75% of its students AND ADA funding, and is closing schools right and left.

“Students who have dedicated their lives to learning to play the cello will be in classes alongside kids who have no interest in the arts at all.”

On the other hand in the name of fairness and diversity, the student who has no interest in music or the cello will be told he is a musical genius and to go play in the orchestra for a performance of Mozart’s “Magic Flute” ...

I have posted previous stories about just this subject. DumblASSio is a straight-out commie. The commie agenda is that everyone is equal; no one is really bad and no one is really good. These simple criteria apply across the board to anything; wealth, grades, achievement, etc. So he deliberately puts jails and homeless shelters into the nicer neighborhoods to bring them down to the level of the slums, so that all is equal. He takes high functioning schools—the schools who hold up the higher end of the numbers used to calculate averages—and eliminates the things which make them higher functioning: select students who can pass a rigorous entrance exam and a free for all for available seats in the schools. Now, entrance exams will be waived, allowing your little ghetto rats to walk right in to utterly destroy the quiet scholarly atmosphere these schools strive for and thrive on, and reserving 25% of the precious seats in these schools for also-rans who could not pass the exam. Now this makes sense, right? To allow students who have already fouled their own nest to come in and foul the few places students can really learn something. But that is from the commie agenda driven “mind” of DumblASSio and his Mexican version of Igor, schools chancellor Carranza—who has discussed NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING but “diversity”, “equality”, and social justice crap like that. Nothing about academics. I’ll wager my cats are smarter than him and DumblASSio put together.

Good post.

DeBlasio, like the Obamas, (Like Obama’s Dad,) like all hard leftist elitists,

sends his kids to elite private “white” schools,

while, virtuously, sending yours to hell.

The people who are upset about this are in favor of it... for your kids. You voted for him, you got him.

Strange. I feel like I have lived this scenario in the past...something like 1962-1964, and busing in the South...from one school to another...

When busing went North, all he!! broke lose. Not it is breaking lose again.

For him, it's back to the crappy public schools with the mold and the tumbledown bricks,

Schools are no more bricks than countries are "magic dirt". Schools are KIDS and countries are PEOPLE.

You know what was drilled into me by Japanese teachers in Japan? That the quality of the school is actually just the quality of the student body after the losers have been filtered out, and yes, there is TONS and tons of student tracking/testing in Japan.

If you are a loser in middle school in Japan you end up at the high school for losers, and if you're a brainiac or simply worked your butt off, well then you'll be surrounded by those in high school.

I've seen PLENTY of excellent Japanese high schools that resemble prisons, and then lots of fancy ones well known in their areas as being no good.

And to return to my country example since immigration matters are of concern:

If you swapped the populations of Haiti and Switzerland I submit that in 5 years the Matterhorn could be covered in trash and chicken heads and Port au Prince would be swaying with palms and humming with cuckoo clock assembly.

Countries are PEOPLE, not magic dirt.

This is a funny convergence on my radar: Just yesterday, I read the latest N. Arizona U. alumni magazine and there was this slick cover and large article about a ‘96 grad, Carranza, as the Chancellor of NYC school system.

So, I spun off the article we all saw here on FReep and found Carranza, from NAU, one of several schools of which I also am an alum, saying: “Why are we screening children? I don’t get it.” Thereby admitting that he will supervise the demise of any remaining excellence in those schools.

Heck, he might even play mariachi music while it burns.
