This is how ice ages begin.
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam today declared a state of emergency ahead of the upcoming storm, which has brought snow and freezing rain across the southern United States.
Heavy and accumulating snow is expected in southern Virginia through Monday, the National Weather Service warned. Downed trees and limbs may create significant power outages or cause additional travel hazards.
On Friday, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper declared a state of emergency for all 100 of the states counties.
Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin also declared a state of emergency ahead of the storm for all 77 of the states counties. More than 10 inches of snow accumulated in Oklahoma.
Oklahoma has snowfall ranging from a trace to 2 inches. They said I would get up to 20 INCHES! I never saw a single snowflake. This report is fake weather.
The centrality of government in daily life is both a joke and a huge problem...and nowhere is the farce more vividly illustrated than in the breathless ‘state of emergency’ declarations by egomaniac governors and the breathless media coverage thereof.
1) Does any sane sensible person need to be told by a politician when it’s an emergency or what an emergency looks like?
2) Is a day or two of SEASONAL inclement weather really an emergency especially when estimates of doom so often fail to materialize?
3) ‘But it officially grants the release of funds!’ some would say. To them I say: why wouldn’t the funds be available with or without a declaration? And if the funds become available merely by uttering a magic word isn’t that the height of melodramatic silliness?
Emergencies are ten a penny these days. Our alarmist culture is bad enough but government’s involvement, as usual, only makes it worse.
If only we had taxed ourselves $10 TRILLION we could have stopped this.
Wait? It’s cold there? Oh, well, yeah, $10 TRILLION in taxes could have stopped the cold, too. Taxes are the magic elixir that cures all ills.
How dare you? Are you a rapist? Libs think so. (satire)
Do solar panels work under 2 ft of snow? Better get a solar powered flame thrower to melt the snow off them. Should be melted by July.
I guess the calm sun is causing a minor weather problem, I’ll be 76 on Elvis day Jan 8. Hope to see more strange happenings LOL.
Climate hysteria.
Aussies would disagree.
To Hell with a fence... I wanna wall!!!
Well said Laz. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I am behind A but not by that much.
Insulate your gosh darn home correctly and your heating/ cooling bills go to almost $0.
Stays cooler in the summer, keeps warmer in the winter.
But hey, go ahead and throw your money out the window.
Freeze or roast for all I care, I dont give a Shiite anymore.
No, this is how WINTER begins. Nothing unusual here.
I'm in Aiken County, SC. Currently 41 degrees and gentle rain.
I'll never get used to that... d:^|
Mississippi can get pretty cold as well.
I’m ahead of both of you by seven years and yes, we have seen some major events that have changed the country that we love. You’re right - it’s been a great run and I have enjoyed the freedom of movement, freedom of speech and freedom to worship as I please. At some point, we will experience the final conflict between those who love freedom and those who exist only to impose their will and rule the lives of others. I’m proud to have known you all.
Yup, and it’ll warm up and melt in a couple days.
Or ... at least ... an igloo .....
We need some of that weather in the Rockies. I’m in north Idaho and we have almost no snow. The mountain snow pack is way below normal. That being said, there are some interesting low pressure systems lining up in the north Pacific that are heading this way. Let’s go, I’m ready and tired of waiting!
Northam is a big supporter of “global warming” and a milk-toast fool too.
Hope he freezes his nuts off in this non-existent global warming episode. Given that he is a stupid Democrat, he won’t miss them or his brain.
