James Alex Fields Jr. was found guilty on Friday of killing Heather Heyer when he plowed his car into a group of counterprotesters last year at a "Unite the Right" rally that quickly turned violent in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Fields, 21, was convicted on all counts, including first-degree murder in connection to Heyer's death and five counts of aggravated malicious wounding, three counts of malicious wounding and one hit and run count for injuring dozens of others with his vehicle.

She didn’t die of any injuries....she died of a heart attack! The jury did the opposite of jury nullification. Period.
Other than registering disapproval of his race, gender and political leanings via this verdict, did he actually intend to hit anyone? It’s been a while since I watched the video and from what I recall it didn’t appear that he did. He was surrounded by a crowd that appeared intent on attacking him, as I recall.
He took a wrong turn, he was suddenly in an angry pedestrial crowd.
A guy brandished a huge rifle at him.
They struck his car.
He feared for his life.
He didn’t even strike that fat chain-smoker.
Wasn’t this the film I saw where the man’s stopped car was attacked by savages, and he was trying to escape in reverse?
This would make a good tweet for our President. “Man convicted of crime that never occurred.”
He’s our honky Trayvon Martin, but with the important difference that he REALLY IS innocent.

Hey what about the CNN reporter and former Obama State Dept guy that FReepers identified as being the perpetrators behind Charlottesville? He was posing as a white supremacist... he was at Occupy, too, as FReepers here figured out.

First degree murder is a premeditated crime. He had to go there with the intention of killing someone. No way this does not get overturned on appeal. I can’t believe the judge did not throw out the verdict. But maybe there is evidence I am not aware of.

Not sure he was an innocent guy who accidentally got into a bad situation and panicked. Examples: “Prosecutor Nina-Alice Antony pointed out that Fields, twice posted on Instagram before the rally an image of a group of people getting struck by a car.” and “Prosecutors also played surveillance video showing Fields driving his car slowly towards the group, reversing and then speeding into them.”
Not sure what happened - wasn’t in the courtroom. Also don’t trust NBC for squat.
