President Trump confirmed he will nominate former attorney general William P. Barr to lead the Justice Department again, telling reporters Friday that Barr was “my first choice since day one.”

He also said he would nominate Heather Nauert as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, saying the State Department spokeswoman, a relative novice on foreign policy, is “very talented, very smart, very quick.”

What did he expect when he fired AG Sessions? Now, to get a confirmation, GHWB lives again on the WH staff through his AG.

You may get a more overt application of the militia here. They are just starting to show their face in law enforcement.

I hope so, too. But if they don’t, meh...what could go wrong?

When we don’t agree with some of the moves President Trump has made, we’re a “cesspool of ignorance”? I’m real uncomfortable with getting anyone from the Bush Dynasty in a position of authority. They’re ruthless behind that “aw shucks” demeanor.

I’ll grant you, Trump is no dummy, but he’s appointed some real stinkers in the past, due, I assume, to getting bad advice from people he thought he could trust. (Sessions, being the most obvious). I pray this guy is on the up and up.

2 of the reasons I support the Barr pick

1. Barr had zero connection to the Trump campaign so has no reason to recuse himself from the Mueller probe.

2. As a Bush attorney general, it will be hard to deny him confirmation.

Well I agree with one of your observations, namely that the discourse and level of intelligent discussion here on FR has clearly degenerated over the past two years that’s for sure.

“As a Bush attorney general, it will be hard to deny him confirmation.”

Especially after all the public fellating of 41. It was gaudy.

I'm wondering if slowing down the slide is a good thing. Take as an example Saudi Arabia. They should've been unfriended after 911. There would've been economic pain then, but the nation was together in outrage, so it would've been manageable. Now, we have to unfriend them unless we're okay with giving up any pretense of being the nation we used to strive to be. Except at this point, the Sauds have much more economic power and connections to cause the US great harm. It might be more than the US economically or politically can absorb.

What's my point? The longer something inevitable is put off, the worse the results might be. In another 20 years, who's going to have the experience, knowledge, and skills to get the nation through the crash and burn which just might be inevitable?

“Trolls” of course being anyone with whom the speaker disagrees with.

You can always tell the intellectually deficient because they call everyone else trolls because they don’t have enough brains to refute a position.

As a result they deserve to be totally ignored.

Tillerson,Sessions,Wray,Powel...
Trump has a very mixed record on pics. This guy is deep state l fear.
Trump is too in love with the idea of an easy confirmation IMHO. It could be another lost opportunity like Wray.
