Feds Discover Largest Oil, Natural-Gas Reserve in History
National Review ^ | December 6, 2018 | MAIREAD MCARDLE

The federal government has discovered a massive new reserve of oil and natural gas in Texas and New Mexico that it says has the “largest continuous oil and gas resource potential ever assessed.”

“Christmas came a few weeks early this year,” Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke said of the new reserve, which is believed to have enough energy to fuel the U.S. for nearly seven years.

In all, the new reserve is said to contain 281 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, 46.3 billion barrels of oil, and 20 billion barrels of natural-gas liquids, the Interior Department’s U.S. Geological Survey said.

Almost a third of the U.S.’s total crude-oil production comes from the Permian Basin where the reserve was found, making it the biggest shale-oil-producing region in the U.S.

Am I reading this wrong—”in million cubic meters;” this means the numbers reported need six “0”’s after them. Which means Russia has 47.8 trillion.

“USGS is doing seismography and exploratory drilling?”

It does sound suspisciously like honest, productive work for Government, but I guess they need to account for the the stuff they are leasing out to private firms, to project/account for royalties.

Sonic testing starts in just a few months, in the yuge recently opened areas in the Arctic and offshore on the continental shelf. (Thank you President Trump - MAGA!)

We will soon be mapping those reserves with the latest technology.

Expect to hear of more yuge finds this year.

MAGA!

Exactly. I don’t think so, but I can’t be sure. This is why I did the analysis on the reported number. I have to check, frankly.

“I wonder how soon after Trump’s second term and a Democrat gets in will all this be shut down in the name of global warming/climate change.”

We have got to kill this greentard idiocy once and for all.

Help me here: if burning fossil fuels emits CO2, CO2 creates more biomass, and biomass creates more fossil fuels, then would not burning fossil fuels be self-perpetuating?

Obviously it’s not a closed circuit, but, generally, is that how it works? I mean, given something about the conservation of energy...

From what I understand, even with low gas prices now, we need more American refineries.

Fewer federally mandated “recipes”, too.

Inertia has not been our friend.

The Fraud’s Gay Navy had been in a hurry to use “green” $20/gallon fuel.

Can’t do it since they’ve been inoculated with this global warming/climate change nonsense.

Within months.

You can be sure that the Republican Party will NEVER allow another populist like DJT anywhere near the primaries.

Don’t think it’s a coincidence, this article being floated just when OPEC is on the verge of losing members. Timing is everything...

Each party has their own corral of misfits they go to and see who’s next to run and they’re upset that someone outside has the temerity to oppose them and run in their party’s name. Trump was a ceiling breaker where the average guy (not saying Trump is average) but anyone can aspire to be president.

So if oil comes from dinosaurs and plastic comes from oil.
That means plastic dinosaurs are made from real dinosaurs. :^)

...plastic dinosaurs are made from real dinosaurs.

I remember when I was a kid, many of the rest stops had plastic dinosaur molding machines. I used to pester my dad to stop so I could get one. I loved the smell and how warm they felt coming out of the machine. I had no idea the dinosaurs were real.
