Fate of The Weekly Standard is uncertain, editor tells staff

New York (CNN Business)The fate of The Weekly Standard, the conservative magazine that has staked out a position as a publication on the right still critical of President Donald Trump, is uncertain, Editor-in-Chief Stephen Hayes told staff in a series of phone calls Tuesday, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The magazine's precarious position comes after its leadership spent months searching for a buyer, the people told CNN.

The people explained that The Weekly Standard's leadership had butted heads with MediaDC, the current parent company of the magazine, and that the two parties had agreed to allow Hayes to search for a new owner.

However, MediaDC recently informed The Weekly Standard's leadership that the company was no longer interested in a sale, the people said.

I agree on Juan but truthfully they’ve pretty much lost me as a viewer anyway as - here she goes again - I cannot stand the female voices - Harf, Bream, Perino, Turlov, Elrod. Thankfully Gilfoyle is already gone...I would say by and large lovely looking ladies with a couple of exceptions but those voices are horrible.

Every time I turn around ready to watch again, one or the other of these is on yammering or someone new like that Elrod.. I’d never seen her before a couple of weeks ago - she is definitely a very beautiful woman; no doubt a very popular sorority type..but please don’t torture us with that voice. I think FOX execs should be locked up in a room with all of them for 24 hours, unable to escape and be made to listen to their whiney, nasaly, raspy voices and then ask for our forgiveness for our ears being assaulted.

“”that new gal HARF -— should be BARF!””

You’ve been out of touch...she was at the state department with Hillary - not new. Have no idea how she found her way to FOX but she’s been there for about a year, I think.

I turn on FOX to see Outnumbered with Harris Faulkner and the minute I see Harf’s face, I’m gone. Doesn’t FOX know what constitutes a good speaking voice and one that’s like nails on a blackboard?

All of this was foretold on Super Tuesday, 2016 when Trump enjoyed his great victory. The Weekly Standard was toast after that date. Sweet!

Even Ted Cruz figured out that you don’t get very far by siding with the 10% of Republicans who DO NOT like President Trump. And with that, he still barely survived.

Seems to me that the Weekly Standard never figured it out, and the droves of Democrats they were hoping to come over...never materialized. No different than the late George H. W. Bush learned, or should have learned, after signing virtually EVERY PIECE of left-wing ‘legislation’ that crossed his desk.

Forgot about Steve Hayes. Hasn’t been on Fox lately.

Last I heard, Steve Hayes was off living in Spain for a year. He announced it during his last appearance on Bret Baier's panel. I don't specifically remember when that was... A year ago maybe?

Why he went to live in Spain, I don't know...
