Texas GOP platform committee member: ‘Damn right, I’m a white nationalist’
The Hill ^ | 12/04/18 | Morgan Gstalter

Posted on 12/04/2018 10:26:06 AM PST by yesthatjallen

A member of the Texas Republican Party’s 2018 platform committee and former delegate for Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential run proudly declared himself a “white nationalist.”

Ray Myers took to social media last week and wrote “Damn right, I’m a white nationalist and very proud of it,” The Texas Observer reported Tuesday.

“I am Anglo and I’m very proud of it, just like black people and brown people are proud of their race. I am a patriot. I am very proud of my country,” Myers explained in an interview with the outlet. “And white nationalist, all that means is America first. That’s exactly what that means.

"That’s where the president’s at," he continued. "That’s where I’m at and that’s where every solid patriotic American is. It doesn’t have anything to do with race or anything else.”

Myers compared using the term “white nationalist” to the Black Lives Matter movement.

“I mean, just like Black Lives Matter, white lives matter, too,” Myers said. “We’re all in the same melting pot. Now why can’t we say, as Anglos, that we’re proud?”

The Texas Republican Party did not immediately reply to a request for comment from The Hill.

President Trump was criticized in October for railing against “globalists” and referring to himself as a "nationalist."

He denied that the term nationalist has any racial undertones, implying his use of the term along the lines of international trade and patriotism.

"I’ve never even heard that. I cannot imagine that," Trump said when asked if his comments imply that he's a white nationalist. "I’m somebody that loves our country."

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) describes white nationalism as akin to white supremacist or white separatist ideologies that often focus on the “alleged inferiority of non whites.”

The Ku Klux Klan, neo-Confederate, neo-Nazi and racist skinhead groups could be described as white nationalist groups, the SPLC states.

J.T. Edwards, an African-American member of the State Republican Executive Committee, condemned Myers’ comments, according to The Observer.

“To have so-called white nationalists in our party is basically an abomination of the very foundations of the Republican Party,” said Edwards. “If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Mr. Myers’s position is part of the problem.”

Myers, 74, has been involved in GOP politics for years and founded Kaufman County tea party chapter, The Texas Observer noted.

He was a member of Cruz’s “Texas Leadership Team” during his presidential campaign in 2016 and wrote on his Facebook profile that he later became a Trump volunteer.

Mr. Edwards just called Trump a racist. He’s the one who doesn’t belong in the party.

Gee, Myers.

thanks a lot. Now the media will run with this story and the Republicans will continue to lose badly with black and Latino voters.

Things you can’t say in modern America.

America is racist and sexist. Against white males only.

He is simply saying that he is white and proud of it, and he’s a nationalist. We need to stop caving to the liberal/socialist/democrat corruption of our language. What you are thinking about is a “white supremacist”, someone who thinks that the white race is superior. It’s not the same as a white nationalist. Let’s start being a little more precise with our language and stop pandering to the linguistic corruption of the real fascists.

Depending how things go with Trump, the Republican party could quite easily be replaced by a 3rd party. The Nationalist Party has a nice ring to it.

I always find it interesting how the dems accept, support, and never apologize for anyone in their party. You can be an outspoken anti-white racist, a Black Panther Party member, a Black Lies Matter “activist”, a Nation of Islam member, a La Raza member, a foaming at the mouth anti-Christian bigot. It doesn’t matter, they are all embraced and accepted. But, let one republican anywhere say something non-PC, and we are ready to throw him to the wolves, which is always followed by an unlimited amount of groveling, sniveling, and self-flagellation. It’s time we adopted the same attitude as the dems, and start fighting them, not attacking those on our own side.

“Very proud of it” is kind of a strange thing.

I think many people misuse this word.

Idiot I’d say. I expect there will be idiots but why do they have to be on the GOP platform committee? Show him the door.

Neo-marxist/race-baiting “critical theory” has become mainstream in the Left now. It is accepted almost without question now in the Democrat Party, academia, and is implicit in many government programs.

It is, by definition, anti-white, because according to such theory, all history is formed by, and interpreted in the light of, some kind of oppression (whether racial, sexual, gender, etc..). In America, Neo-marxists will tell us, that oppression by race is the most widespread. Thus they have created a cancer in our society.

They have created the conditions for many white people to obviously say “well, why can’t I be ‘proud’ too?”

Once enough people do it, the damn will break wide open.

J.T. Edwards, an African-American member of the State Republican Executive Committee, condemned Myers’ comments, according to The Observer.

Who else does he condemn? Does he condemn the Black & Hispanic Caucus? Does he condemns the National Black Republican Association? Does he condemn LaRaza or NAACP? Or is he just another black hypocrite?
