HuffPost, a liberal news site, was lampooned after saying Christmas classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was seriously problematic over claims that it features sexism and bullying.
Viewers are noticing the tale may not be so jolly after all, the outlets video said. And theyre sharing their observations online.
Among those observations was the suggestion that the TV classic was a story about racism and homophobia, while calling Santa Claus abusive and bigoted.
Yearly reminder that #Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a parable on racism & homophobia w/Santa as a bigoted exploitative prick, read one comment shared by HuffPost. Santas operation is an HR nightmare and in serious need of diversity and inclusion training. #Rudolph, read another. ..."
President Trumps son Donald Trump Jr. weighed in on the topic, tweeting Liberalism is a disease.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer isnt the first classic cartoon that was decried as problematic today.
Critics attacked ABCs A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, which first aired in 1973, for seating its only black character, Franklin, alone on one side of the holiday table while all other white friends were seated on the other side.

Herpes?
Awesome!
@MJCaan
Oh no. Its #RudolphTheRedNosedReindeer I dont have strength to watch this again. Those poor elves. That bully with the whip. Abusive deer. Dentist shaming. Unloved toys. Its too much!!
The truth is, huffpo is the one that is seriously problematic’- they are simply projecting
When normal people watch Rudolph, they see a little red nosed reindeer get made fun of by bullies.
Then the same little outcast deer ends up being the hero.
All the main characters our misfits who end up saving the day.
Sounds like a feel good story about not judging people and tolerance.
Liberals make me sick.
You know, I watched that show for 10 years straight as a kid and I never took notice nor paid much mind that the Franklin character was black. Guess it took liberals to point that out, who are always thinking along racial lines.
As for Rudolph, it was never Christmas in my childhood home until we played the Original 1964 Soundtrack to the Rudolph TV show. One of the best Christmas albums you will ever hear.
“Young Jewish guys from that era developed quite creative wish-fulfillment stories.”
I think it had a lot to do with the Shoah. Basically 1/2 of my people were killed. It put a lot of angst and pain on the subsequently-surviving generation.
My dad, for one, was almost as screwed up as my grandfather, so much so he admitted he fought so hard in Vietnam because he thought he didn’t deserve to exist (silver star and multiple other honors) (and then turned around and continued the fight in Israel).
Lots of ghosts.
You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
you know Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen,
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Santa came to say,
Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight
Related
Then how all the reindeer loved him,
As they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nose Reindeer
You’ll go down in history
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it,
You would even say it glows,
And all of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names,
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games,
Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Santa came to say,
Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight
No, because herpes isn’t fatal if left untreated.
Rudolph was created as an ad campaign for Montgomery Ward.
And the 1964 Christmas Special was used to shill GE small appliances.
That is why I’m planning to get the DVD of these holiday shows. I fear one day liberals will stop airing these shows on TV. Has anyone seen The Little Drummer Boy on TV lately? This is why I’m going DVD route.
It is very clear that Rudy was an acholic and driving that slay while intoxicated would be something only a minority would do.
I still miss the Noelco commercial with Santa riding on the electric razor. Even our name says Merry Christmas.
I can’t wait until they hate on Linus because of his speech about what Christmas is really all about in The Charlie Brown Christmas Special.
"Alcoholic nose is a skin condition commonly characterized by a swollen, red and bumpy appearance on the nose.
While this look is frequently referred to as alcoholic nose or drinkers nose, its actually a skin disorder called rhinophyma."
Rudolf was written initially for Montgomery Wards around 1950... I forget what the first year goodie was, maybe the comic book, but each year there was an additional Rudolf something or the other. Gene Autry then made Rudolf big time famous with “Rudolf, the Red-nosed Reindeer”.
My all-time favorite is the Miller one with the horse-driven sleigh to the accompaniment of "I'll Be Home for Christmas" I know they were still showing that one up to a few years ago.
Attention liberals, Rudolph the Red nose reindeer is a cartoon, not real life. I know it does confuses? you, but to most Americans, they can know the differences between real life and a cartoon.
Its ironic that the Left is actively trying to fulfill the role of Santa with all their giveaways So now, Santa is still a bigoted, exploitative, more dangerous pr!ck.
