What are they not telling us about the “government worker”? Someone who was given a pretend job so as not to appear to be on welfare?
Got a better one for you.
Just before I quit driving long haul, about 8 years ago, I was at a Wal-Mart east of Albuquerque and heard a couple of 30-something tourists complaining about their drive through the Indian reservation.
They were incensed that they hadn’t seen any tipis!
They actually believed the Indians still lived in tipis, hunted buffalo and rode around on horses.
The Indian girls working at the Wal-Mart could barely contain their laughter.
One of the girls said something to another that I didn’t understand so I asked. She said it basically meant “silly assed whites”. We all burst out laughing at that point.
Happens to NM all the time. Writing letter to the inlaws in Alamogordo probably 10% of them got rejected by the post office for lacking international postage until we started adding USA in big letters on the envelope.
Back in the day, I was wearing Navy dress blues in O”Hare airport, when an elderly engaged me in conversation, asking where I was from. After I replied “New Mexico”, she was confused that a foreigner could become a Navy officer. Yup, happens waaaay too often.
A guy I used to work with had to contend with the same ignorance 30 years ago. His son applied to Harvard, and he had a hard time convincing the Harvard applications office that New Mexico was in the USA.
Today, that son, a Harvard graduate, owns a hazardous materials mitigation company in central California. He laughs at the snowflakes in state government while he gets rich from ridiculous regulations.
If they had come back with a US map showing NM they would have been accused of Photoshopping the state. Meanwhile, where did these jokers get their public school education? Too busy being taught about being gay and diversity and all that other liberal stuff they teach.
A friend’s wife used to believe that Mexico was an American State. Nurse.
Well, she was half right!......................
Driving though NM we stopped and went to the top of Sandia Peak, about 10k feet. Quite a view.
Interesting factoid:
NM did not honor my KY CCDW license. But it was legal for me to open carry.
We had a phone answerer who didnt know England and Hreat Britain had any connection to each other
Yeah. But like anyone who’s half right , she thought she was all right. She didn’t vote, then. My friend is trying to wise her up.
I live in Alaska too. Don't be disingenuous. Of course you need a passport if you are driving from AK to AZ. In order to drive you have to cross the Canadian border.
We should make it 51 states, and become the world’s most resource rich country in the world overnight heh.
Well, to be fair, it does have a Columbia river.
The late English military historian John Keegan was traveling in the US for the first time with friends as a young man. Somewhere in the South they were eating in a diner and were asked how long they had been in the US. When they said, “about six weeks,” they were complimented on speaking English so well.
I think Governor Gay-vin of California might raise taxes to put a high speed rail from SanFransicko to Hawaii...
trapped in a man’s body.
