In the Old Testament, Proverbs 16:18 warns, Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Haughty pride caused John Allen Chaus destruction and fall.
Hes the young man from Washington state who decided that what a small tribe on a remote island needed was his personally delivered taste of that ol time religion. What he found was an early grave. Chau didnt die from the tribesmens arrows. He was killed by his own arrogance.
A self-styled Christian missionary, Chau tried to foist his presence and beliefs on the Sentinelese tribe. For centuries they have lived on North Sentinel Island, part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, hundreds of miles off the southeastern coast of India. Their lives are untouched by even a hint of modernity, and they do not welcome visitors. Ever.
Chau was an invader who breached their homeland; they stood their ground. Let no one else die or be punished for his hubris.

Wonder if the globe would hold that position regarding the southern US border.
Don’t say that around here.
I did a few times and got a THOUSAND emails about how he was doing it for Gawd and was a righteous soul who went straight to Heaven.
No, I’m betting God thought he was an idiot who wasted his precious life and another possible 50 or so years spreading the word where folks would UNDERSTAND what he was saying and spreading the word wouldn’t have been an almost certain death sentence.
There are PLENTY of dangerous places to spread God’s word with MUCH BETTER chances of reaching people and surviving to convert even more people.
Idiot.
Hope this writer remembers that when we defend our borders against invading hordes of mooching scumbags.
Don’t know but hey are right on this one
A self-styled Christian missionary,
= = =
Is this like a home-grown terrorist?
What is the correct ‘styling’ of a Christian Missionary?
PS, the NT says “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel”
Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
You seem OK with criticizing his opinions but complain when yours are criticized. That seems kinda weird.
There was a time when any one attack on a Roman citizen would be treated as an attack on the state itself.
Why should this be any different? This young man was a devout Christian and patriot whose only crime seems to have been wanting to bring salvation to these people.
Lets see how their arrows deal with an A-10 Thunderbolt on their asses
“Do not be surprised if the world hates you.”
yes he sure was!!! sometimes you have to mind your own.
He did do it for God.
I doubt anyone could deny that he believed that.
We’ll find out some day.
It’s the Boston Glob (of excrement), they know all about arrogance, we should remind them when one of their leftist prog commie reporters gets himself offed for pushing his views.
I think there’s room for various opinions on this, but that author is just a hateful piece of work. I have no room for her hate in the conversation.
GLOB Blames the victim....................
Wonder if the globe would have that position if an LGBT person had tried bring the message of homosexuality to the tribe.
I seem to recall we turned Andrew Shepard into a saint.
OMG that’s hilarious. It would be even funnier if looter dude was in there, too.
Did the islanders eat him?
