Fake News: On Tuesday The Guardian published a ‘blockbuster’ story claiming that onetime 2016 Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, who has been convicted of unrelated financial crimes by special counsel Robert Mueller, “secretly met” three times with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange at the Ecuadoran Embassy in London.
There’s a lot to unpack here, but first things first.
It’s unclear who fed this story to The Guardian or why, even, the British news site was chosen for the “leak.” What is clear, however, is that the story is completely bogus.
Let’s start first with WikiLeaks’ priceless denial.
“Remember this day when the Guardian permitted a serial fabricator to totally destroy the paper’s reputation. @WikiLeaks is willing to bet the Guardian a million dollars and its editor’s head that Manafort never met Assange,” the whistleblower organization tweeted.

This story comes out on the same day Corsi says he won’t sign a lie? No coincidence there.
This story is fabricated by the Brits in order to provide cover for them and the Aussies about the damning evidence in the FISA court documents. Just my thoughts.
The deep state will and are, doing everything to cover their asses.
The news has always been mostly political propaganda.
usually there was a Democrat paper & the GOP paper and they would slant the reporting with their respective angles. Goes all the way back to Washington’s administration, then their were the Federalists (Adams, Hamilton, etc.) & the Democrat-Republicans (Jefferson, Madison, etc.) Aside: I’m sorry but to me Jefferson’s crowd were the worst in their slants - Washington wanted to be King! Really? Uh-huh? Just an idiotic take on Washington! But I digress!
Even if the news was 100% accurate in their reporting, deciding what to report & what to ignore still gives them enormous power! Its almost like if its not reported, did it even happen?
All news should be treated with grains of salt from a few grains to the entire salt shaker!
How would ANYONE “secretly” meet with assange?
What do the Ecuadorans at the embassy say about Manafort?
One doesn’t normally get to roam around in an embassy.
If you need a visa, they will help you, otherwise adios amigo.

That’s not the scarey part.
The scarey part is that there is no one else in the main stream news who is willing to refute, repudiate, and destroy fake news, and that half the country don’t care if it’s false as long is it attacks the other side.
40 years ago, if the WaPo or NYT or 60 minutes did a false expose or investigative report, or even just an article, everyone else would have destroyed them, and reveled in it, and the outrage from the public would have been shared no matter which side it appeared to benefit.
This above all else concerns me.
All the sky-is-falling stuff about politics typically sounds like alarmism to me. Politics has always been brutal.
But the Press used to keep them in check when they went wrong.
Well said. It’s the monolithic nature of the “news” today which is the problem. Largely driven by AP, but the bottomline is that they all say the same thing: Trump is Hitler.
I believe you are mistaken. 40 years ago, there was no alternate media to destroy or expose them. At least not any media of consequence.
Consider the media coup that was Watergate.
We have been living in a mediacracy for at least 50 years.
The WaPo, NYTs, and 60 minutes did numerous false exposes and articles in that time period.
It is way overdue to expose the stink-eyes buried in the Five-Eyes group. I suspect at least two bad actors.
This whole episode should be s easy to prove. Not only is the Ecuadorian embassy under video and audio surveillance, but the 0bama DOJ and FBI were conducting surveillance of the Trump campaign (and after the transition also).
Where the hell is the evidence on any of this? You would think they have tons more than supposed purgery.

Well over a hundred years. The media became liberal when it fell in love with Russia's Red Revolution and then communism, the workers paradise.
It had to start deceiving it's audience and then itself when it became obvious that communism success was a lie and it would never work in the real world.
The left media has contorted, distorted reported, and outright lied to protect the fallacy that communism/socialism has/can/will ever work.
It just sounds so good and it makes you feel so nice to 'he'p' every poor, down trodden slob in the world {using someone else's money}.
Free everything, it's wonderful.
