The relationship between Scientology and NOI goes back nearly two decades. Farrakhan was introduced to Scientology in the late 90s. Scientology leader David Miscavige expressed interest in attracting black people, and by 2006, Scientologists honored Farrakhan at the Ebony Awakening Awards.
In 2010, Scientology held a summit near the NOIs headquarters, according to the NOIs official publication, The Final Call. This was around the same time Farrakhan began having NOI members take courses in Dianetics.
This is an excellent article. Not many people are aware of Scientology's links to the Clintons, the NOI, The Manson Family and other groups.

Scientologists courted Charles Manson, tested him, and said he was Clear.

Not many people are aware of Scientology's links to the Clintons, the NOI, The Manson Family and other groups. What would be the point of having ties to the Manson Family?

"This cult is built around the ideas found within Dianetics and the science fiction genre for which Hubbard was known." As a Scientologist since 1973, I can tell you that the science fiction angle is blown all out of proportion in the press and online discussions.
While it's true that it figures prominently in the OT III materials, space opera is of little to no relevance in the rest of the technology.

Hubbard considered homosexuality an aberration and socialism and its various other promiscuities one of the greater evils on the planet with drugs being the greatest evil. I’d bet that Scientologists vote 80% or more Republican. I’d also bet that no more than 5 Freepers total have ever read ANYTHING L. Ron wrote and thus have not arrived at their opinions by any means other than group think. Freepers with an analytic disposition will read source material on the matter and make up their minds independent of the miasma of knee jerk hysteria that the left has created about this matter.

...ties to the Manson Family? It's a tenuous tie, at best. Charles Manson had a passing brush with Scientology before he became the leader of the Family.

"Scientology has multiple celebrities and business magnates in its membership. In addition to being worth billions of dollars, with massive real-estate holdings, Scientology has been known to attack detractors and cover up the misdeeds of some of its most prominent members. "So they were the father of Google!

Bare-Faced Messiah A biography of L Ron Hubbard that Scientology used to work hard to suppress. But then came the internet.

From Wikipedia: “In 1974, Manson stated his religion was Scientology, and identified as a Scientologist after studying the religion while incarcerated. Manson completed 150 hours of auditing before declaring Scientology “too crazy”.
Think about that one for a minute. Anyway...
NoI=”Mad scientist made white people”. Co$=”People made mad by alien”. So the likely push for the Damned Midget was “Scientist was made crazy by alien so we’re both right!” (and I’m pretty sure I saw this movie on Dialing for Dollars when I was a kid).

Bare-Faced Messiah That's an excellent book, which I highly recommend. It strips the sugar coating off the Hollywood-used version of L Ron Hubbard that the church sells to the public.

From Wikipedia: In 1974, Manson stated his religion was Scientology, and identified as a Scientologist after studying the religion while incarcerated. Thanks for that. I stand corrected.

Back in the 1980s I found a copy for some friends of mine who were investigative journalists. It was hard to do because Scientology was buying up every copy that they could get to keep the book out of circulation.
