It should tell us something about her home country that a mother is willing to travel 2,000 miles with her 4-month old son to come here. Should tell us something about our country that we only respond to this desperate need once she is at our border. So far, in this administration, that response has included taking kids from their parents, locking them up in cages, and now tear gassing them at the border.
People are leaving violent countries where they fear for their lives. Without money, they are subsisting on hope for their kids, for themselves, that they can get to safety. After being denied the ability to lawfully petition for asylum for the last 10 days, they are desperate.
We choose how to respond to this challenge.

“she is welcome to apply for admission as an immigrant or for asylum...from home”
Wow! That’s really true?
What about the other 9 million in Honduras? What about the other 7 billion people in the world? What about them? We obviously can’t house 7 billion people in our country so the solution must lie elsewhere.
The countries throughout the world must fix their problems and make their countries livable. That is the only solution.
The thing is, if the US took over Honduras to try to fix it, they'd be the first to chant "Yanqui Go Home!"
How much foreign aid do we send annually to the various South American countries, eh, “Beto?”
He pretty much says what Trump says.
But, he doesn’t say how he is going to do it.
Should be move asylum applicant processors from other Ports of Entry because all of these clowns went to one location? Or is he going to suggest we hire a whole bunch more to run the applications at the border.
So, what he is saying is that all of the people that are doing this”right” should wait longer as we move resources to handle these people?
And, typical of a politician they state the problem not in terms of something that can be solved, but in terms of tugging on your heart: This poor mother, bringing her children here...
What makes me think that there were not the same heart strings pulled at the turn of the last century when my wife’s family was coming in from Italy and Poland? (My family came here when there were no borders.)
This is an article to keep his name in front of simpletons who will just read this and nod their heads about what a calm, decent, compassionate man he is...
They can go to the US embassy in their own country.
They could have accepted mexican asylum and a job
they could have stayed home and got another candidate elected last time.
Plenty of options.
Help Mexico build facilities to hold these people and process them in an orderly fashion. Send officers down there to begin processing any legitimate asylum claims. (I don’t suspect there are many, if any, but let’s process the two or three that may be legit and use the process to screen out the rest.)
Maybe even help train these people for jobs — there, not here.
We tell Mexico that it either agrees to that, or we build an even wider, higher, deeper wall and they get zero dollars from the United States. Take it or leave it.
We need more immigration/asylum magistrates, and we also need more Border Patrol and ICE agents.
This isn’t one sided is it?
Drones dropping pungent odors, alarming sounds of predatory animals and suggestive lights implying there could be a fire. Anything that would increase the perception of more risk.
Set up asylum processing offices at locations that would require them to turn around to apply and Shut down the border so the best option is to go back.
Drop leaflets detailing exactly what to expect should the cross illegally and then prove it when ever someone crosses.

I refuse to call Robert Francis O’Rourke by hsi cultural appropriation nickname.

Once an asshole always an asshole. Beto, bum bum boy.
I’d handle them just like any other invaders.
How I would handle the wall and Mexico.
WE will not shut Mexico down by shutting down the entire border...there by destroying your economy.
IF:
1)You pay for half of the wall.
2) you allow U.S. to patrol a one hundred foot strip of land (No lo ZONE) across the entire mexican side of the border until the end of time.
With the right to stop and detain anyone who enters the 100 foot no zone.
So Beta thinks all of the problems of Central America are our fault and our responsibility. Somehow it is our fault that criminals in Central America are sending contraband to our country to poison our people. Somehow we are responsible for everything happening in those countries today because we intervened politically to fight Communism there 30 years ago.
You lost, Beta. Just go away.
He should get his rich Betobutt down to South America and fix things where these people are not scared for their lives. Then, he can be a winner here in the USA...
but, all they do is throw wood on a fire and run away, creaps!
Fence in that 100 foot zone and populate it with a bunch of those feral boars you see hunted on YouTube videos. Critters like that probably like them some refugee.
