Ocasio-Cortez Inspires Student's Arrest After Telling Activists to Put Their 'Bodies on the Line'

Ocasio-Cortez Inspires Student's Arrest After Telling Activists to Put Their 'Bodies on the Line'

Last week, we touched upon Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's support for the asinine government overhaul of the American economy known as the" Green New Deal. " In what appeared to be spontaneous show of support, Ocasio-Cortez met with a group of environmentalists inside Nancy Pelosi's office and told the mostly young group of people just how proud of she was of them "for putting yourselves, and your bodies, and everything on the line to make sure that we save our planet, our generation, and our future." However, Ocasio-Cortez had actually delivered that same message a day before at a training session for the activists which inspired many of them to get arrested.

Take Emma Chinman-Hatton, a 21-year-old University of New Hampshire student for example. When Chinman-Hatton heard that Ocasio-Cortez encouraged this behavior, she simply had to get arrested to fully show support for the environmental movement.

According to Foster's Daily Democrat , Chinman-Hatton and New Hampshire Youth Movement were heading to Washington, DC and deliberating how far they wanted to take their protest.

"While driving to D.C., Chinman and New Hampshire Youth Movement members decided it would be too risky to make getting arrested part of their mission to demand action on climate change in a protest at the office of Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic U.S. House minority leader," Fosters reports.

But, "Chinman’s mind was changed after hearing inspirational words from Democratic Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York during a training session a day before the Nov. 13 protest, designed to push party leaders to take immediate legislative action."

Apparently, after learning more about the Green New Deal, the group was "split into two: people who wanted to be arrested and those who did not. Chinman and the rest of NHYM were still firm on the fact they’d be in the low-risk B group, which would go into the hallway outside Pelosi’s office but would not enter."

Then Ocasio-Cortez made an appearance at the training session on November 12 and told the group how more young people needed to put their bodies on the line to fight against climate change.

That is when Chinman said she decided she would move into Group A and plan to get arrested.

On the morning of November 13th, Congress-woman elect Rashida Talib met with the protesters and even gave them jolly ranchers for the sit-in.

Then during the sit-in, Chinman and her comrades sang songs, chanted, and demanded that Rep. Pelosi heed their requests.

But, "after three warnings from members of the Capitol Police Department, Chinman said, the 51 activists were arrested and taken to paddy wagons to be processed. Published reports on the incident state they were charged with unlawful demonstration after refusing to leave. Chinman said she and the others were fined $50 and released after five hours, adding they will not have to appear in court."

Chinman-Hatton has no regrets for her actions saying, "I’m really glad that I decided to do the action. Young people (must show they’re) going to inconvenience themselves and show that we’re going to put our bodies on the line, we’re going to inconvenience you if you aren’t taking climate change seriously. We’re going to continue to get arrested, continue to do actions and continue to protest."

Emma’s sweatshirt says: “We have a right to good jobs and a livable future”. I wonder if she has ever schlepped a solar panel? It’s not really a job for women.

What a waste!
She could have been a beautiful woman if she had chosen Christian Conservatism instead of left wing wacko-ism.
Sad.

Inciting to riot charges possible? There’s encouraging civil disobedience.. but little of what goes on by the thugs on the streets is harmless or just vocal.

Is this nation that naive to sit by and do nothing while the country is ripped to shreds?

Did I really ask that? Peace.

Wow she really really really had to work hard at becoming this stupid. There are deer in my backyard that I see through my windows that appear to have more intelligence than she does.

This practice of fining demonstrators and trespassers $50 and not locking them up and not requiring a court appearance needs to stop. It has become a joke and is no deterrence at all.

Who is going to hire a graduate of a gender studies program?

An LGBT community center or similar. That's about it.

gloBULL warming played no part in the mid-term campaigns, but note how it’s now almost the only issue!

People have wondered what the Bolsheviks could possibly offer in economic and employment policy counter to Trump's MAGA - this is it. This is their economic and jobs platform revealed.

What we’re going to need, I believe, is for some high profile scientists to step up and undercut the climate change theory, at least get it into more realistic projections that are less apocalyptic, so that these political consequences become invalid.

If the main body of science continues to support the theory, it is almost a given that the political left will back this sort of disruptive economic lunacy.

I know from my own widespread contacts in the weather community that support for climate change is thin to non-existent among many operations meteorologists and knowledgeable weather enthusiasts, it’s only the smaller climate change working groups who seem very concerned about it. The attitude more generally is, things are not changing that much and the projections are implausible.

But these are not recognized “major scientists” speaking and we need to see some sort of reason returned to the discussion. I don’t expect any scientist to come out and say there is nothing to the theory at all, because there probably is some validity to it, but the conclusions are hyped by about an order of magnitude. It’s not even necessarily a problem that the greenhouse gases are increasing, it could turn out to be win-win with a little sensible anticipation and planning. And the predictions of more extreme weather aren’t realistic. Rising sea levels within a certain range can be handled, it’s not like they will rise fast overnight.

Since this fact (the need for adult supervision basically) is obvious to many, I expect it will happen, and probably fairly soon. The alternative is growing political chaos and a sharp edge to what would already be a cultural divide on other fronts.

A right to good jobs. Well, that does sound very nice.

How does she propose for that to happen? Oh, just demand it.
