I can hear the greenies already screaming about killing the moths, or beetles, or worms, or maggots, etc., etc.
However, to sane people (like us) it makes sense.
Illegal in Kalifornia. You must allow the biomass to build up to catastrophic proportions under penalty of law.
We have these all over E. Texas. We have very few forest fires. We do have some massive brush/grass fires in western counties.
I aint gonna get into this.
You all discuss it. It can be done, and done by those who know. There is no reason whatever that all those lives need be snuffed out and all those homes and buildings be destroyed.
END OF STORY.
That in addition to logging to thin the trees, allowing grazing permits to allow the grasses and underbrush to clean up, reopen the fire roads that go back deep into the forests.
I think you get rid of some of those clerical jobs and replace them with forestry jobs (real ones not the ones who want to do nothing)
Neither in N WI and the UP of MI. Virtually very few acres burned each year.
.....129 million dead trees in CA.
Repubs and Demons passed a bipartisan
Bill in CA to fund the forestry service to remove dead trees and undergrowth which feeds fires...but Moonbeam Brown killed it
I worked on the teacup sale just above the canyon fire that happened in Oak Creek Canyon. That fire broke over the ridge and guess what? It stopped at the boundry of that sale. They could NOT even find enough fuel on the forest floor of that sale to start a back fie.
A tree masticator doing brush clearing in the Manzano Mountains sparked on some rocks and caused the Dog Head Fire. Burned about 18,000 acres, but due to the sparse population only 12 structures went. I was evacuated for about 5 days.
Still, not clearing is an invitation to disaster.
OMG, look at the ugly scar on the land that machine is making. And all of the bird and squirrel nests the are being destroyed. And the noise is horrific, scaring all the other animals away. Who would want to go hiking and birding with that monster running?
What about the people?
