Thanks, NeverTrumpers. Are You Happy Now?

NeverTrump Republicans have been rabidly obsessed since 2015 to prevent Donald Trump’s nomination, election, and having failed, to join the left in nonstop criticism and condemnation of President Trump. They may be succeeding, but to what end? As they look around at the current political landscape, are they truly happy with the direction of the country? Or is that irrelevant, as long as they can strut around on their high horse, feeling smug, telling each other “I told you so”?

The NeverTrump movement began shortly after Trump announced his candidacy for the presidency. So-called “principled Republicans” were incensed that a loud-mouth from Queens, a TV reality star, a host of beauty pageants, someone never before elected to public office, should challenge the Republican establishment orthodoxy.

His tweets and straight talk were unacceptable. Calling out the media and his political opponents ran against the grain of how they thought Republicans should handle themselves in a presidential campaign. Trump did not follow the proper and acceptable savoir faire of John McCain or Mitt Romney, two prominent NeverTrumpers. The fact that both lost their elections to an easily defeatable far-left candidate who damaged the country badly during his eight-year reign of “fundamentally transforming America” seems to be lost on Trump’s GOP critics.

The NeverTrump names are familiar. Aside from the two noted above, there are others, all one-time Republicans, although their conservative beliefs have been tossed out the window over political expediency or ego. George Will, Max Boot, Steve Schmidt, Bret Stephens, Jennifer Rubin, and anyone with the last name of Bush. There are many in Congress too – Paul Ryan, Jeff Flake, Ben Sasse, Bob Corker, and others.

Are You Happy Now?

Actually, yes, they are. Republicans much prefer being in the minority, that way they can cast meaningless votes for things that they know will not pass. This enables them to hide their Deep State bonafides from the voters, who generally don't pay close enough attention to tell the difference between a symbolic vote and a real one that actually matters.

The fact is, anybody, anybody at all, can go over to the GOP headquarters, sign up and pay a membership fee, and they are Republicans in “good standing”. There is no loyalty oath to becoming a Republican, and the agenda is pretty loose in many of the local organizations. It is expected that the homilies are going to be at least mouthed, even if never taken to heart.

Once in place in the hierarchy, it is surprising easy to rise in the ranks, by large donations and offering voluntary service, in perhaps an initially innocuous role. Then once established, to roll out bits and pieces of the underlying agenda, by stigmatizing those with whom there would be potential disagreement, being at first careful to appear to express doubts, “I know (xxxx) means well, but he is just WRONG on this....” then using all kinds of specious reasoning to “prove” just HOW wrong.

Not an overnight delivery, but slowly, over time, an entire political party can be hijacked, and the differences with any “rival” parties are almost completely obliterated.

It has already happened to the Democrats.

Can you imagine how much more successful our foreign policy and trade deals would be going if our freaking govt could show a united front to our allies and our enemies alike.

you don't bad mouth your own party or its candidates....

Until the back-stabbing GOPe gets on board with this concept, I'm perfectly fine with (verbal) attacks on GOPe candidates. Sorry, but it is time for "war" with these people. It is the same problems over and over again, all caused by the GOPe. Until these a-holes get on board the Trump Train, they may as well be Democrats.

we as a community had better wise up to the realities of life.....
we have to support one side or the other.....rats are absolutely evil to the core so that leaves us the stinking pub party but at least it includes patriots and conservatives....

we must never support third party candidates..

once the primaries are over, one support the pub candidate...

you don’t bad mouth your own party or its candidates....

we absolutely need all pub candidates to win their races even if some don’t especially like them....

Who is “we”? Does it include Mitt “I voted for my wife even if that gives us a Hillary SCOTUS” Romney?

You seem blissfully unaware that there is a wing of the GOP that prefers progressive Democrats to patriots. Until these saboteur Quislings are removed from the GOP there will be no effective opposition party to the rampaging Democrats.

They are cheap democrats, but democrats nonetheless. They talked a good game since 1988 and some even before then, yet when they have the chance to implement their proposals they run, hide, act and feign outrage at the Visigoth Trump and the conservative unwashed to keep from supporting a real chance to turn about the liberal ship of state. Snobbish, arrogant, elitist, they fit right in with their out of the closet brethren with (D’s) in front of their names.

Some are so blindingly stupid they assume that the unwashed conservative masses will dutifully fall back in line behind one of their neutered eunuchs in 2024, after all we have to vote straight R tickets when they are running the latest version of a Bush. Not HAPPENING.

Oh, and there are members here who will chide you, saying you have to vote for the R no matter what, because the D is worse. No, no the D is not. Because many of the R’s are D’s. Does anyone really think Sen. Collins as a Republican?! Seriously.

I’ve been around long enough, I see what’s going on. Once the establishment can get rid of Trump, they think it’s back to business as usual. Well, it will be, sort of. The Democrats are building a machine to dominate, the Republicans are more than happy to accommodate, and America is poised to slide into the ashbin of history.

I will not vote for any more R’s who are rebranded D’s. I’m done, I’m old, I’ll just watch the chaos.

“cutting off youe nose to spite your face is killing America”

BS! I mean, capital B capital S!

I’ve seen what these soulless turds do when they are elected. They “reach across the aisle” and capitulate as fast as they can.

Whether I participate or not, the result will be the same.

“sanctimonious puritainism gives the leftists power”

Ha! You know what gives the left power? The void created my conservatives taking care of themselves. Our independent nature has killed us.

The left took over the schools, and infiltrated the media. Now they are importing millions to vote the way Americans won’t vote.

And the final straw is a political party that pretends to be opposition, and is acting as the Washington Generals to the Democrats Globetrotters.
