Monica Lewinsky says 'grief' led her to take part in new docuseries 'The Clinton Affair'

With "The Clinton Affair," Monica Lewinsky is ready to revisit the 1998 sex scandal that nearly unraveled Bill Clinton's presidency, and she hopes by doing so she can retire the term "Lewinsky scandal" once and for all.

"I think 20 years is enough time to carry that mantle," the former White House intern, now 45, writes in a new Vanity Fair essay published Tuesday.

In the essay, she explains what motivated her to take part in the 6 1/2-hour series, which premieres Sunday (9 EST/PST) from Emmy-winning producer Blair Foster ("Get Me Roger Stone," "Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind") and Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney ("Taxi to the Dark Side," "The Looming Tower").

Another impetus, she says, was grief: "Grief for the pain I caused others. Grief for the broken young woman I had been before and during my time in D.C., and the shame I still felt around that.

Grief for having been betrayed first by someone I thought was my friend, and then by a man I thought had cared for me. Grief for the years and years lost, being seen only as 'That Woman' – saddled, as a young woman, with the false narrative that my mouth was merely a receptacle for a powerful man’s desire. (You can imagine how those constructs impacted my personal and professional life.)"

No real man will ever want to be with her, she ruined any chance for a good man to marry her. I truly feel sorry for her.

The title they're using is like a headline for a re-run Soap Opera.......

....”I don’t see competing with politicians, including ex-Presidents as being a very high bar”.....

It's a very low bar in fact. For the most part the higher you go in the pecking order of what's considered highly positioned men the less desirable they are. I've been down that road, mostly because the gals I traveled with then encouraged I accept the offer for an evening out despite my reservations. In ALL there wasn't a one who wasn't wrapped up in his own self importance......once they discover you're not all that impressed with position's but the man that they are they deflate like a balloon. They ARE their position.

On the other hand Blue collar Workers know who they are as a Man with or without the position they hold....also Most factory operators...who often Marry up because they recognize a good thing when they find it.

It was also an interesting discovery. Though of course not fully across the board as there were a few exceptions... but I do think men who know the man that they are, without a need for a title or position to precede them, are much easier to know because they’re comfortable with who they are as a man.

Have you even seen someone so hung up for so many years over something so stupid. She did a married guy! Back in the 90’s! Get over it, already!

Yes I agree. Time to move on. But apparently she hasn't. She should move to somewhere new, let's say Calgary, Alberta and have a new life. Change her name if necessary.

All these public statements only make sense IF Hillary really is serious about running.

While I really do believe Hillary is almost the perfect opposition —a cold-hearted, reliable loser who gobbles up money and press time— who really thinks next time she won’t pull out all the Election Fraud stops..?

If Hillary runs again the level of cheating will be in outer orbit, in deep space.

A 2020 Hillary run will make Albania seem a fount of public integrity.

A friend of mine worked as a grant writer at her mom's charity until a few years ago. She often times spent time with Monica, since Monica was still living with her mom in Santa Monica, Ca.

It always sounded pretty pathetic actually... after all these years, Monica's focus was always on getting a movie or book deal... fame was just always right around the corner. Her wealthy mom seemed to be an enabler... just let that fantasy keep on staying alive.

It sounds like Monica hasn't progressed at all... still trying to find herself, or somehow make something of her past. Seeing the pictures on TV today was weird... after these decades, she still has the same look... same hairstyle and everything. She's stuck in her past.

Sorry, Monica, but you blew that chance 20 years ago.

>>And rumor has it...she’s running for President - AGAIN?!?!

that’s what this is about, “clearing the air” as the 20th anniversary is marked

It was all so unfair for her

Bill and Hillary had already run women twice her age through their meat grinder routine. She's lucky to be alive, regardless of how her life ended up.

““Grief” my Great Aunt Fanny; she’s doing this for the money and attention!”

Why not? She was a naive 20 year old starry eyed intern who was exploited by a fifty something year old president of the United States. Hardly a relationship of co-equals...

“And it introduces it all to millions in more recent generations, even if they don’t watch.”

Every person on the PLANET needs to know that the Clintons are evil grifters! If anything, the up and coming young Dem Voters sure need to know - his Impeachment isn’t even taught in school, anymore!

When my boys were in Jr. High they had a teacher who was NUTZ over Clinton. There was a LOT of de-programming and very FRANK discussions with my boys about what a horrible example he was.

So, I guess he served his purpose in one way - as a horrible example; a ‘teachable moment’ the Dems are so FOND of, LOL!

Yes she is lucky to be alive. It was / is so easy for the Clintons to “evacuate” the “inconvenient.”
