France’s Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire has called for Europe to become an “empire” to compete with the United States after the country’s President Emmanuel Macron called for an EU army to defend against the NATO ally.

Exactly! Pathetically hypocritical, isn't it? I posted a link (separate thread) to a charitable giving index that shows France as number 72 on the list (per capita), with the US number four on the most recent assessment - but number 1 and 2 generally in the past several years (again - per capita; If in absolute dollars I'm sure we would always be in the top 2 - if not always number one). How does France's poor charitable giving, and the US’s generosity fit with Macron's comments about nationalism being selfish and ignoring the world's needs?
What about European nations who reject the emperor?
That's been tried quite a few times, and all such efforts have failed, the most recent occurring in 1989.
So how long will this “empire de mille ans” last?

So if they don’t actually NEED NATO why are they always crying when Trump suggest de-funding NATO? Doesn’t compute.

But that's not nationalism is it? It's pie-in-the-sky, that's what it is. Macron will be defeated by LaPen in the next election in May 2019 and he and his best buddies are looking for a home after. Let's create some multinational organization which will pay a good salary and keep us in the limelight, shall we Mr Macaroni?

The euros have a task on their hands. They want to unify and make a continental army, but first they must decide whether they are western thinkers or sharya thinkers. This decision will be made with immense loss of life, or wholesale surrender of freedom.
This era will likely be referred to as the ‘Macroni Empire’ period, with the limp-inspired Macroni running the vast empire.
To those who have eyes to see and ears to hear, it does.
Ok. Europe, your own your own. Immediate withdrawal of all troops stationed in Europe. Withdraw from NATO. Oh, and don’t call us when you get invaded. Again.
