The headline should have been: Security Guard Apprehends Shooter and Saves Lives. Instead, its another case of the police shooting and killing an innocent black man.
Eyewitnesses say that at Mannys Blue Room Bar in Robbins, [Cook County, Chicago] Ill., security told a group of intoxicated men they had to leave. One of the men returned armed, at which point shots were exchanged between them and armed security guards.
One of the guards, Jemel Roberson, 26, managed to restrain one of the gunmen.
From WGN9:
He had somebody on the ground with his knee in back with his gun in his back like, dont move, witness Adam Harris said.
Two police officers arrived, and upon seeing the scene, one of them immediately shot Roberson before taking the time to better assess the situation.
Everybody was screaming out, he was a security guard, and they basically saw a black man with a gun and killed him, Harris said to WGN. He was just doing his joband had managed to do so without using fatal force, as the four people wounded had only nonfatal injuries.

So what do you think REALLY happened? Was this guy not really a security guard? Was he the real culprit at the bar? Are all the witnesses lying or is the media manufacturing them? Or is it all just unknowable and we should always assume all police shoots are good shoots?
Nice to see that we’ve accurately identified yet another bozo who thinks cops can kill anyone they want without even bothering to assess a situation. Thanks for making it easy for us.
I have no idea what happened - and neither do you.
Every “fact” you two claim to know comes from two sources:
(1) “The Root,” which is a radical Black Nationalist online magazine.
(2) “WGN News,” which reported what the victim's family and their lawyer said.
If that is your idea of “evidence,” then I have no idea what else to say to you.
So, when CNN reports that the Police Chief of the town the cop works for says, “What we have learned is Jemel Roberson was a brave man who was doing his best to end an active shooter situation at Manny’s Blue Room,” is that just fake news and they totally manufactured that quote?
I responded to a post that was linked to The Root and to WGN News.
I have no idea what CNN or the Police Chief said.
So, do you think I just made up that quote?
I mean, you are aware that this story has been reported more widely than those two sources, right?
The only thing I know about this story is what I read in the posted links - the Black Nationalist “The Root” and the pro-plaintiff WGN News.
Let me ask you this: Do you think this happened at all?
What point are you making here?
I wandered into a Free Republic post where people started attacking me because I said “The Root” and the pro-plaintiff WGN News article were crap news sources - and they are crap news sources.
If you had better sources, you could have saved everybody a lot of time by linking to them in your first post.
A link to the statements by the Police Union and the Police officer's lawyer would also be helpful.
And while your at it, am I still the only guy around here who noticed that the aspiring policeman-security guard who got killed also committed a felony by possessing a firearm without a concealed carry permit or an armed security guard permit?
Well, then, I guess he deserved to die.
See, that's the thing. You came onto this thread basically throwing out reasons why the cop was justified in killing this guy.
Good catch.
Any new news on that heroic security guard that was gunned down by Chicago Police?
Over the years, I bought two cops, an alderman and a traffic judge. The cops were the most expensive. Do not speak of what you don't know.
Some more details in this slanted article
https://www.al.com/news/2018/12/deaths-of-ej-bradford-jemel-roberson-worry-black-gun-owners.html
Apparently he did have a permit and was dressed in clothing that had SECURITY on it.
https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/15/us/chicago-area-security-guard-police-shooting/index.html
That article states police did give commands before firing.
Just for consistency sake - I dont like cops. Nothing cant be made worse by inviting a low IQ badge with a gun and way too much authority who sole purpose is raising revenue and going home safe even if you dont. Truth in advertising.
Also I missed this one. I never heard about this shooting.
