Florida Republican Governor Rick Scott, who is involved in a tight contest with incumbent Democratic US Senator Bill Nelson for one of the state's US Senate seat, made claims on Thursday that officials in two Florida counties are tampering with election results.
Scott, using his authority as governor, got involved in his own race by ordering law enforcement officials to investigate board of election actions in Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
Scott's US Senate campaign, along with the Republican Senate campaign arm, filed a lawsuit claiming that election officials in Broward County are refusing to release public records.
Every Floridian should be concerned there may be rampant fraud happening in both Broward and Palm Beach counties, the governor said.
Officials in the two Florida counties, which are Democratic-leaning, are continuing to count ballots two days after the polls closed.
As of Thursday evening, Scott leads Nelson by .2 percent. That margin is a bit smaller than from Election Night when Scott led by more than a half percent. Any result within .25 percent triggers an automatic hand recount.
Nelson released the following statement following Scott's announcement: The goal here is to see that all the votes in Florida are counted and counted accurately. Rick Scotts action appears to be politically motivated and borne out of desperation.
Meanwhile in the gubernatorial race in Florida, Republican Ron DeSantis has seen his lead evaporate from over 1 percent on Election Night to under .5 percent on Thursday. His challenger, Democrat Andrew Gillum, had previously conceded the election, but on Thursday, told supporters that he was hiring lawyers to make sure every vote is counted.
Gillum tweeted the following Thursday evening: "Mr. @FLGovScott counting votes isn't partisan it's democracy. Count every vote."
President Donald Trump weighed in on Thursday on Scott's announcement.

Republican Speaker-Designate Jose Oliva backed Scott's decision.
"Voter confidence in the sanctity of the ballot box is a cornerstone of our Republic," Oliva said in a statement. "Palm Beach county, as well as Brenda Snipes and Broward countys discovery of tens of thousands of allegedly valid, uncounted ballots is disturbing to say the least."
Yes, it's good to see the GOP response, although it's a good question as to why those large and in charge in this state didn't take steps to fix this earlier. It's not like this is the first time.
Rudy Guiliani is weighing in, although I'm not sure he will be going down Miami-way. It has been reported that Roger Stone is already en route.
The “found” ballots may be mixed in with the real ballots by now. Election workers and officials are not going to admit to fraud. “Carelessness” maybe (like Hillary) if they are in a jam. FL needs an honest voter system, but the crooks need something they can continue to manipulate.
No, it is not the first time. And as long as there is a Democrat Party, it won’t be the last. Next election will be the same thing.
Then to my point - just say, ok, these weren’t segregated, we don’t know how they were handled or where they came from - therefore the election stands as is otherwise it could be tainted in either direction. No recount. Done.
“Count every vote.”
That’s their fall-back old saw to make them look legitimate. When that phrase rears its ugly head, you know they’re cheating.
I don't know AZ law, but if the relevant statutes don't make it clear, and AZ did not do a recount, the dem lawyers probably already have a lawsuit ready (they would probably sue even if the law supports not doing a recount). One problem is that Sinema has more money and lawyers than McSally.
I said AZ law but looks like the same phenomenon in FL.
I have 100,000 completed ballots in the trunk of my car. Are they going to count them?
Any vote not counted by midnight of election day should be disqualified. No exceptions, no excuses.
This is exactly the issue. Go get some ballots. Tell them you found them in the lawn outside your polling station. You’re a concerned citizen. Pay no mind that every one is for Scott.
They should trash the entire election and do it over under the watch of a Big 4 CPA firm, just like they do with the lottery.
“Any vote not counted by midnight of election day should be disqualified. No exceptions, no excuses.”
Absolutely. One of our precincts was 40 miles south of Anchorage. On election day there was an avalanche on the one road connecting the precinct and the counting center in Anchorage. It wouldn’t be cleared for a couple days. To adhere to Code, we had to hire a helicopter to bring in the ballots. There was no waiting. There were no excuses. There was no whining.
The voter fraud in the country is much more masive than ANYONE realizes.
IT HAS TO BE STOPPED.
Trump isn’t stupid. I believe he will find a solution.
Actual PROSECUTION of those who re cheating would be a big step forward.
Let’s say I want an “Insurance Policy” on the outcome of an election. I put a box full of bogus ballots in the janitorial closet at an elementary school that is a normal poling place. Turns out I decide, two days later, that the votes for my favorite candidate(s) are needed to throw the election their way. I put the word out to a selected and sympathetic teacher at the school to look around for any ballots that might have been stuck in the janitors closet. WOAH! SHAZAM! the teacher finds the box and sounds the alarm. The ballots then become legal votes. No one questions the chain of custody, no one questions if they are faked.
And the Bush family gifts keep on comin’........
Good on you guys. You did what needed to be done for the most important domestic issue there is. I assume you had witnesses and/or election officials from both partys overseeing the transfer, even on the chopper.
104.29 Inspectors refusing to allow watchers while ballots are counted. The inspectors or other election officials at the polling place shall, after the polls close, allow as many as three persons near to them to see whether the ballots are being reconciled correctly. Any official who denies this privilege or interferes therewith commits a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

I have said it before and Ill say it again .... but the Bush family are by far the most evil and destructive force this country has every known. They have had am even more negative effect on our Republic than even the Clintons.
If Trump had dropped dead in early 2016 he would have already provided one of the most valuable services to the Republic in history by destroying Jeb and ending their political clan forever
‘... took my Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis election signs and put them back out front again.....’
Great idea! This is sickening but not at all surprising! Rubio is correct....the County that was hit hard by the hurricane got all ballots counted and reported w/o problems. Yet, once again, Broward Co has major problems. If we’re deplorable, perhaps they are despicable.
“I assume you had witnesses and/or election officials from both partys overseeing the transfer, even on the chopper.”
Definitely. And on the Facsimile Board, each pair of workers consisted of one from each party. Precinct workers were equally paired.
My Data Processing Review Board which was responsible for the ballot design, creating ballots (IBM punch cards), running test runs for weeks before the election, consisted of an equal number of workers.
It was a different time then. Everyone respected each other and everyone got along.
