For months, gun control advocates in Washington State have peddled initiative 1639, which moves to create stricter firearms laws. On Tuesday, 60 percent of Washingtonians voted in favor of ballot measure, the Seattle Times reported.
Specifically, i-1639 will:
Raise the age someone can purchase a rifle to 21. Create an "enhanced background check system similar to what is used for handguns." Require a person to complete a firearms safety training course. Create a common stand for secure gun storage.
Those in favor of the measure believe that even further gun laws will prevent mass shootings.
My generation has been defined by gun violence. We have been defined by continued and repeated inaction by our elected officials, Stephen Paolini, 22-year-old campaign manager for 1-1639, told supporters on Tuesday. I hope tonight this victory is a message to our elected officials: Enough is enough.
Alan Gottlieb, the Founder and Executive Vice President of the Second Amendment Foundation, said he's prepared to go to court to challenge the legality of the measure.

Oh, it’ll probably be just like that.
What friggin idiots. There is absolutely zip, zero, nada in this bill that will stop a person intent on killing people.
Totally not the point. The point is for the inexorable march of incrementalism to one day confiscate all privately held firearms. Commies plan a century in advance.
The same idiots believe laws prevent crime.

These people dont deserve freedom.
I'm one of this state's citizens and we're fighting back.
This travesty won't pass Constitutional muster.
I know.
Im just disgusted with the usual suspects who dream this crap up.
"If I'm scared of guns and don't want to own a gun, NOBODY should be allowed to own a gun."
A lot of that happening out on the left coast with the Bloomberg/Everytown money pouring in.
