Democrats Won the House But Trump Won the Election
Washington Post ^ | November 7, 2018 | Ed Rogers

While Tuesday night was not a complete win for Republicans, there was no blue wave, either. By most measures, Republicans beat the odds of history and nearly everyone’s expectations, while Democrats were left disappointed as the fantasy of Beto O’Rourke, Andrew Gillum, Stacey Abrams and others winning fizzled. Not one new progressive Democrat was successful bursting onto the scene. It will take a few days to process the meaning of this year’s election returns, but the instant analysis is clear: Democrats may have won the House, but Trump won the election.

I’m doing a bit more tea leaf reading, and there’s a concerning trend starting to emerge.

States like my home of Florida are slowing twisting into purplish melting pots. The urban bleed is starting to impact formerly bright red parts of the state, and this is happening in other states. While Ron deSantis won the gubernatorial race, it was by a razor-thin margin. Couple that with a dozen horrible “constitutional amendments” that passed handily, and I think the decades-old progressive strategy of dumbing down the electorate is starting to pay dividends.

Florida elected to restore voting rights to felons, and I fear that’s going to turn our tenuously purple state into a more reliably blue state in the next election. This election cycle proved that the MSM owns the conversation in our country, and I believe they are emboldened to continue to enhance the bully pulpit through media organizations like Google, Yahoo, Facebook, and Twitter as those platforms wade deeper into partisan political waters.

CA 10 Jeff Denham, 100% reporting
CA 39 Young Kim, 99% reporting
CA 45 Mimi Waters, 100% reporting

CA 48 - Rohrbacher in trouble, 95% in.

Nice summary. Unless something egregious ones up in these endless house and muleass investigations I would look to the post watergate elections. 1976 ford lost and we got killed in the Congress primarily due to ford pardoning Nixon together with the watergate hangover. In 78 we picked up 15 house and 3 senate seats as the country got to see the Abzug drynan holtzman group in action along with carter. In came Reagan in 80 and the die was set with a diminished dem Congress albeit they had the majority.

“All of the 2018 Democratic heartthrobs lost.”

Well, not exactly, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez with 78% of the vote from the Bronx and Queens!

How many seats did the dems pick up last night? And how many were the polls and media saying they’d pick up? Because clearly the polls were not wrong in this case.

The GOP had a good election? Trump may have to move left. The left got away with an attempted coup. Mob mentality worked and rewarded.

Trump may have to move left.

That would kill Trump. I hope you can keep your hands off the keyboard because YOU ARE DANGEROUS! Go away.

I've been wondering how the numbers would eventually sort out. If it's 219 D and 216 R then one special election could drop that to 218 D and 217 R. One more special election could change it to 217 D and 218 R, flipping the House back to Republicans. In any case, any special election now would attract unheard of amounts of money.

While I'm not optimistic about the Republicans reversing their fortunes before the next election, the numbers should give the Democrats some pause. Extremism could very quickly end their majority.

It makes the onslaught against Reagan and Bush look like a cakewalk considering all the social media sites now can be used to attack POTUS. By the way speaking a social media and big tech who’s gonna go after their asses considering they shut down most conservative voices, a coordinated attack against free speech starting with Alex Jones a couple months before the midterms to help the democrats win.

Trump won the Senate last night. His campaigning and all those rallies put at least five Republican candidates into the Senate, and was a lesson to all the others. The Senate is his: his judges will be confirmed, he’s immune to impeachment, and Romney will get no traction as the new McCain.

Wait til RBG retires and Trump is easily able to replace her with a well qualified conservative Justice.

I wouldn’t go quite so far as the headline.

With that being said, any normal republican POTUS facing this election would’ve lost bigger in the House and lost the Senate too. Pendulum swing and all that.

DJT continues to outperform the normal historical trends.

Trump May have “won the election”, but it’s going to be “dead ass gridlock” for the next two years. Bet on it!
