Half of Americans believe that Republicans will maintain control of the House in the midterm elections Tuesday, according to Gallup's nal poll. The result of that question has lined up with the actual election outcome every time Gallup has asked it since 1946. Fifty percent of Americans believe Republicans will stay in power in the House, while 44 percent believe Democrats will take control. In a larger note of condence, Americans also believe that Republicans will retain the majority in the Senate. Sixty-one percent say Republicans will hold power in the Senate following the elections, and 33 percent believe that Democrats will take control. The poll concluded that Democrats are much more worried than Republicans about the outcome of the 2018 midterm elections. Eighty-one percent of Democrats say they are very or somewhat worried about the fallout of a Republican controlled Congress, in either one or both chambers. On the other hand, 66 percent of Republicans say the same about a Democrat win in one or both houses. The survey was conducted from mid to late October.

There is one thing I have noted that the Polling groups are not considering.
There was a pretty strong never Trump moment in 2016 amount traditional GOPE voters. Saw that in a lot of races across the South. The GOP Senate candidate did much better in traditional Red areas then Trump did. The polling groups have built that into their models for 2018. I think the last two years have laid a lot of that Never Trumpism to rest.
We will find out tonight who is right.
Pray for a repeat of 2016....
Hate these kinds of things. There’s always that 1st time. It’s almost like a hex.
As I said before and it is important to say it again — regardless of any poll, just be sure to get out and VOTE!
Our future and the future of the country is at stake.
VOTE to help President Trump MAGA!
That’s 100% true!
They haven’t considered the republicans who doubted trump but now are on board.
And the Dems who are now on board.
My wife just couldn’t bring herself to vote in 2016...didn’t like either Trump or Hillary. This time, she’s voting straight Republican.
Blah blah blah, a majority also believed Hillary would be elected President in 2016.
But, it’s a way to kill time until tonight.
As for 81% of Dems being worried, of course they are worried. Their religion is politics, complete with dogma, the Devil and his demons, and heretics. The prospect of one’s religion being declared shut down (again) is very frightening. That’s why you’ve seen their hysteria on display since Nov of 2016.
Just read Jim Geraghty’s predictions of GOP apocalypse. I am less than confident we keep the House but Geraghty makes me look like a combination Pangloss and Pollyana.
Oh, and nice Ripley’s reference.
The only place I've ever seen a "Never Trumper" was on Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Times and NRO.
I - honestly speaking - have never once seen one of these "Never Trumper" douche-holes in real life. They only exist in DC and NY media entities.
Polls are missing an increasing number of conservatives who don’t answer polls or deliberately give false answers to mess up the results.
As I said before and it is important to say it again regardless of any poll, just be sure to get out and VOTE!

As they say, “One weird thing that can affect an election’s outcome. Actually voting!”
Again it all depends how how well the Polling groups did creating their models. All these “analysis” is based off the same polling data. Notice JG is a die hard Never Trumper working for the Never Trump National Review?
If the polling data is off 2-3% these election “analysis” are nonsense.
What is “ a larger note of condence”?
That phrase makes no sense.
I held my nose in 2016 and voted for DJT. This time I was delighted to vote all Rs and will do it again in 2020. (to be fair, I have not voted for a Dem since I was in college and not even sure I did then but my tepid support for DJT has transformed into a rapid supporter. He is the first POTUS since Reagan to thumb his nose at all the smear tactics and keep working for the people.
Of COURSE only 2/3 of republicans care.
They’re STILL not 100 percent in the RIGHT frame of mind.
They’re STILL so used to losing that fully ONE THIRD don’t care about the fallout if we lose the house and/or senate!!!
My wife just couldnt bring herself to vote in 2016...didnt like either Trump or Hillary. This time, shes voting straight Republican.
Good for her.
The odds are pretty slim, to be honest.
I’m accepting a house loss. As long as the senate is under control it doesn’t matter.
