It is my birthday today, so I get to post the live thread. :)
Some places to watch:
Politico SenateReal Clear Politics
He gets his golden parachute. He will never be Speaker again.
Do a search on "American Redoubt."
Democrats answer is to shepherd everyone into single payer.
To me, the worst trends tonight were that single payer and open borders appear to be stronger positions electorally than I would hope to see. Socialists came way too close to winning the governorship of Georgia and Florida. Sinemas strength in AZ is very concerning. The trend does not appear to be our friend.
A small rural state no one wants to move to.
McSally up 22k. Pima 98% in, Maricopa 82% in. She might just hang on. McQueegs wife should have been out there stumping for McSally being an ex Military pilot and all. Yes no love lost but we need wins.
So, Rauner lost narrowly in DuPage and Kane, and Kendall. Trump eked it out in Kendall. DuPage last voted D for Gov in 1932. Kane and Kendall never did in the 20th Century (TR in ‘12)
The suburbs.
State Senate
Near tie in SD-21 (R seat, R up by 12 votes), West suburbs including Naperville and Wheaton
SD-24, Chris Nybo (R) edged out it looks like, West suburbs including Lisle, Oak Brook and Elmhurst
SD-27, Rat took GOP seat by 3 points, Northwest suburbs of Palatine, Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect
Ill House
The rat candidate running against Mike McAuliffe (R-Northwest Chi) dropped out and was not replaced. Lucky Mike!
HD-45, looks like a narrow loss of a GOP seat, Itasca and Bartlett
HD-46, My mom’s friend Peter Breen loses to that bitch Terra Costa Howard, West suburbs including Lisle, Lombard and Glen Ellyn
HD 49, rat gain, West suburbs including South Elgin, St Charles and Batavia
HD-53 Rat gain Northwest suburbs including Arlington Heights, Prospect Heights and Mount Prospect
HD-61, rat gain Lake County communities including Winthrop Harbor and Antioch
HD-61, Rat seat, Sam Yingling the only rat I saw ads against, wins reelection easily, North suburbs including Grayslake and Round Lake
HD 81, rat gain by a few hundred, not called on Sun times, West suburbs including Woodridge and Downers Grove
HD 76, rat gain by 10 points over an incumbent, Central Illinois including Oglesby (LaSalle County), Trump won the district by 9. Ugh.
HD 111, Rat incubment barely survives, Madison county I think. 16 point Trump seat. We need to GAIN ones like this for God sake
HD 118 Southern tip of the State , Dem incumbent blown out, GOP GAIN, yay. Trump got 2/3s of the vote.
I have good news. Arizona is 86% reported and McSally is up by 22,000. Even better, Pima county, the Democratic stronghold, is almost all in. McSally lost the Pima early vote badly, but did much better with election day vote.
I think this is a hold which would guarantee 54 seats. Montana would be 55!
Most House races are local. Sometimes they get national play but those times are rare.
The Economy DID help the Senate races. The economy and President Donald J. Trump!
And ths Soros money (and money from other billionaires) has influenced key races.
Still, after the dust settles, it was an overall good night for President Trump. He did all he could do! He personally accounted for, I think, the gains in the US Senate.
I’m disappointed as well about the House, but, then I stepped back and thought - I’d rather lose it now than in 2020 when Trump runs for re-election. And, the gains we made in the Senate will be there for the next 6 years with the possibility of picking up a few more seats in 2020. So, I comfort myself with this.
Probably North Dakota.
This has the feel of what American Indians endured in the 19th century.
My question is what can Trump do in the next 2 years that improves on what he did in the first 2 years? How can he add on to his case for re-election things that he didn’t already have to talk about for this mid-term election? The economy’s already improved and he already confirmed two SCOTUS judges. The things he failed to do like building a wall will now be even more impossible to accomplish.
McSally will take it. The seat is a hold.
Good thing the worthless Flake had the good sense to retire.
The election outcome might have had a very different ending tonight.
We dodged a bullet.
No, the American Redoubt is a region that includes some sizable cities. Whether or not people want to move there is their choice. I was simply answering a question.
I was addressing specifically a poster who claimed Dade was 99 percent dem
Its more conservative than the city proper where I live near.... Nashville
Funny thing the truth versus hyperbole
DeSantis got 40% in Dade
Scott ditto
Nashville Davidson county
GOP SENATE CANDIDATE Marsha Blackburn. 28%
GOP GOVERNOR CANDIDATE Bill Lee. 32%
Most Freepers would be very surprised by the facts I just showed you...
Music city is more liberal than Dade county Florida
It's bound to happen. Historically, empires normally collapse after about 250 years. Research the common signs of an empire in collapse, and you'll see that we're living on borrowed time already.
No, and that's their problem. They don't because they assume it's a lost cause.
If MT flips, I will be happy with the result.
Just did. Interesting... thank you. I guess the libs can put us on reservations in those states.
Drudge shows the Repubs with a +3 gain in the Senate.
And the Dems with a +34 gain in the House.
It would be nice if Drudge is wrong on either one of these numbers.
(I know - I promised myself not to go to Drudge but I just wanted to see his headline.....grrrr).
while that rep district might be, the more R votes they can generate in that district the better for statewide races..
Republicans need to figure this out.
