FEC Complaint FILED Against Google, Facebook, and Twitter For Election Interference

Americans For Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) filed a formal FEC complaint Friday against Google, Facebook and Twitter for violation of election law stemming from the tech giants’ widespread censorship and bias against conservative patriotic Americans online.

ALIPAC’s statement reads in part:

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC alleges Facebook, Google and Twitter violate federal regulations that prohibit corporations and corporation employees “from contributing any services or anything of value to elections and campaigns. Silicon Valley companies are contributing to Democrat campaigns by silencing conservative opposition to illegal immigration.......censoring groups like ALIPAC that support conservative anti-amnesty opponents.......the left-wing candidates favored by these companies.”

TRUMPS’S HUD COMPLAINT NOW IN MOTION SAYS: Facebook mines extensive user data and classifies its users based on protected characteristics. Facebook’s ad targeting tools then invite advertisers to express unlawful preferences by suggesting discriminatory options. Among those options are physical disabilities, parents with children and even religious practices — advertisers are allowed to show their ads only to people Facebook deems interested in “Jesus” or the “Christian Church,” for example. Those practices could violate the Civil Rights Act, HUD said in the complaint, dated August 13.

I’m sure one of the arguments made in the bake a cake controversy was that they were plenty of other bakeries the plaintiff could have gone to to have the cake baked. In this situation, these companies have become the primary outlet for speech in many circumstances. There’s nowhere else for the plaintiff to go to express their opinions so I think this case has a chance.

I wonder what the legal theory is. Since they are private businesses I guess they can censor all they like. Maybe the problem is that their user agreement doesn’t disclose that they reserve the right to censor conservative opinions.
