Mr. Graham, crisscrossing the country to turn out the Republican vote against the centrist Democratic senators who were once his natural allies, lapped it up. He has been basking in the exaltation of Trump backers ever since his lacerating defense of Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh. His own transformation from Trump-basher to Trump defender seems complete.

Exactly. FR has become hijacked by people who believe this article. They wont hold him accountable for his record. Clearly The Construction and Bill of Rights, as written, are not in their principle beliefs. Grahmnesty is even worse than a centrist, he is a liar. What he is saying does not equal his record and his proposed legislations. People can and do change.
Let's hope this is the case with Graham.
I would not want people to judge me based on my past. I am not the same person I was.
Maybe the whole Kavanaugh debacle finally opened his eyes.
That said, while I'm thrilled with the way he's been recently, I will take it at face value.
I would still be reluctant to trust the change is permanent until he's proved it but in the meantime, I'll take what I can get and not criticize him for what he's doing NOW.
I'm grateful Trump seems to have rubbed off on him and he's become a powerful voice for our side.
Heck, there is this.....

Exactly. FR has become hijacked by people who believe this article. Its OK to encourage good behavior. It also encourages other spaghetti spined RINOs to straighten up and fly right. Temporary? Probably. But good for now at least. Ask Judge K.

You know he’s a rock star when they lampoon him on SNL (Sucky No-talent Liberals). They had a woman playing him (’cause, you know, gender-bending humor is ok if it’s in the service of leftism). Lyndsey is a man, always has been, just never found his true conservative voice until recently.

IMO whatever McCain had on Graham either died with him or Trump made it go away.

Now that whatever McCain had on him has been taken to the grave, he’s free to be Grahambo I guess.
We should send encouragement to keep it this way.

What happened?
He is up for election in 2020.
After the midterms he is under the white hot light.
He's trying not to get Flaked.
We in the upstate have a long memory.

Lindsey wants the 2024 GOP nominationThis is probably the closest to the truth of anything I've seen. If he can hold true to his new persona for that long, he might make it. Personally, I don't think he can do it. I don't think he stands for or believes in anything but what he thinks is good for his own prospects. I'll stop calling him Linda if he can keep it up for 4 years though.

Lindsey is like anyone else. I’ll praise him when he does something right and criticize him when he does something wrong. Whatever the reasons, he’s been doing a lot of things right lately. That’s good. We’ll see how long it lasts.

Lindsey was re-elected in 2014, which means he’s up again in 2020. He wants to avoid a primary and have a safe re-election.

I don't buy the act, but there has never, ever been a majority of U.S. Senators who were principled, moral and conservative men. ANY working coalition requires having a few Grahams to play along. You don't trust them, you keep them under close supervision, and you let him keep his position as long as he continues to play along a better option doesn't come along.
Graham is a canny politician, and he bought himself some time. Believe it or not, one of the heroes of the Thomas hearings was Snarlin' Arlen Specter. Because he was not considered a hard core right winger, he was more effective than Ted Cruz would have been in the same role.
