House Republicans, White House commit to 10 percent middle-class tax cut next year

The White House and Republican members of the House committee responsible for tax policy promised Wednesday to work on a 10 percent middle-class tax cut in the next Congress.

“We are not done yet,” the Trump administration and the House Ways and Means Committee Republicans said in an unusual joint statement. “We are committed to delivering an additional 10 percent tax cut to middle-class workers across the country. And we intend to take swift action on this legislation at the start of the 116th Congress.”

The joint statement follows previous middle-class tax cut promises from President Trump that took his own party by surprise. Details of the promised 10 percent tax cut for the middle class remain scarce, if they exist.

Trump previously promised to enact the cuts prior to the midterm elections, an impossibility without Congress in session.

Preliminary estimates for a 10 percent tax cut aimed at the middle class are that it would cut federal government revenue by about $2 trillion over 10 years.

Last year's tax law has not been as popular as Republicans hoped it would be. House Republicans advanced legislation to make those cuts permanent in September, but the bill has yet to be considered in the Senate.

I sure hope they cut my taxes next year.

The last tax cut raised my tax obligation.

Well they raised my taxes in the last “tax cut for everyone”. Now they will probably pay for this tax cut with raising my taxes again. I’m sick of subsidizing everyone else. Not rich enough to get avoid taxes and not poor enough to get the tax cuts.

Me too!

But I found out what I need to do to lower them...and it sucks ass.

You need to run business that makes money every 2 out of 5 years. So now I have to track all my expenses and do a bunch of extra work just so I can keep more of my money.

Pay for the taxes by cutting the “social services” budget.

The tax announcement means that federal Democrats will have even less stolen state revenues to buy votes in exchange for unconstitutional federal spending programs.

And to see even more federal tax cuts and make them permanent, including Pres. Trump’s vision for MAGA, patriots need to support Trump in working with Congress to lead the states to repeal the 16th and ill-conceived 17th Amendments.

He needs to publicly point out several ineffective and expensive government programs and say “By eliminating this and this, we can save the middle class X amount every year. What do you think?”

“And these are the Congressmen who have sworn to do this.”

Agreed. 10% spending cut would go a long way. Even 1% is a start but NO ONE is talking about cutting spending. In the words of our president: SAD.
