Jewish leaders from Iowa wrote a letter for the Des Moines Register Tuesday condemning Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) for white supremacist views.
Alan Steckman, president of Adas Israel in Mason City and John Pleasants, president of Ames Jewish Congregation, explained that they felt the need to respond in the wake of Saturday's shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.
The two criticized King for using "funds from a Holocaust education organization to meet with a notoriously anti-Semitic propaganda site" as "shocking beyond any previous outrage."
They said that King's promotion of white supremacist ideology had previously gone unchallenged by many, and that that silence can "foster a climate that enables the kind of hateful violence that erupted three times in the last week."
"We call on all elected officials to stand with Iowa's Jewish community, denounce King's actions, and hold him accountable."
King has several contributors stop supporting him in the wake of recent comments, including Land O'Lakes, Intel and Purina.
A poll released Tuesday showed King with just a 1-point lead in the race over Democract JD Scholten.
The Cook Political Report also moved the race from "likely Republican" to "lean Republican," indicating the nonpartisan handicapper believes the race is tightening.
Yet most Democrats are anti-Semitic, and support BDS, while most Republicans support Israel. This President is one of the strongest Jewish supporters in our lifetime. How many Democrats have cozied up to Farrakhan & Keith Ellison? Most, if not all..
Ah! I tought ‘bludgeon’ had some other meaning I didn’t know.
Well, the media’s job is to get us to do things- heck, advertiserd wouldn’t pay them a dime if they weren’t successful at it!
Usually they use trickery and persuasion, but they’re going all out this election- any weapon to stop Trump.
The one you want to avoid is the National (or international) Socialist
It was National Socialist that were NAZI’s, literately.
Trump fixed that charade when he blew the fake facade right off these posers. Only those drooling in cups still buy their lying leftist propaganda.
King is a nasty white nationalist anti-semite who loves and supports Israel.
IDK. President Trump has insulated himself from their manipulation of the people but I think many other Republicans haven’t.
Talk about mice threatening a lion...these puny shmendriks criticizing King for some act he didn't even do, calling him a "white supremacist" have only served to show the world how truly pathetic they are. Please don't take what they say as anything but stuff and nonsense from 2 idiots in the sticks of Iowa---certainly not "Jewish leaders". Anyone with a vaguely Jewish name who even burps is suddenly a "Jewish leader" according to the libtard media.
25 Oct: USA Today: Donald Trump’s ‘nationalism’ isn’t racist or wrong, it’s what America needs right now
by James S. Robbins
(James S. Robbins, a member of USA TODAY’s Board of Contributors and author of “Erasing America: Losing Our Future by Destroying Our Past,” has taught at the National Defense University and the Marine Corps University and served as a special assistant in the office of the secretary of Defense in the George W. Bush administration)
You know America is in trouble when the president is viciously slammed simply for saying good things about the country.
Appeals to the inherent goodness and manifest greatness of America used to be a staple of political oratory. It was so commonplace that it was entirely noncontroversial. Love of country was taken for granted.
But when President Donald Trump described himself as a nationalist at a rally in Texas, it set off a firestorm of criticism. Nationalism is now the new n-word. CNNs Jim Acosta pathetically insinuated the president was making a secret appeal to racism. MSNBCs Nicolle Wallace invoked her History Channel-based education to tie in Nazi appeals to German nationalism, while perhaps being unaware that the Nazis also were ardent socialists. Maybe she missed that program.
This predictable progressive panic is baseless and tiresome. It is a willful misunderstanding of what Trump means when he says nationalist. The president framed the term against globalist, which in his words is a person that wants the globe to do well, frankly not caring about the country so much.
This has always been part of the presidents America First agenda, to represent U.S. interests in dealings abroad rather than promoting the internationalist agenda of his predecessors of both parties...
Nationalism as a response to the left’s tribalism...

Spokestooges who try to pass themselves off speaking for the entire Jewish community belong in prison.
Trump's retort should be "I don't remember any Democrat disowning the support of Black Panthers, Louis Farrakhan, or the Council of La Raza."
"this guy Steckman has appointed himself a spokesman for the Jews of Iowa. "
No, the media have annointed appointed him.
This is proof Dems have too much media and money and dont know how to use them.
King will win by at least 15 points. Scholten is token opposition.
I know this area well. Theres about five Jews in and around Mason City. Hasnt been a minyan for decades unless Lubavitchers visit.
This guy is a volunteer.
Decades ago, there were maybe 30 Jewish families scattered around north Iowa. No more. Some Lubavitchers in Postville. This guy doesnt speak for them, for sure.
I had to read the AP’s screed about what the NPCC is doing. It has to do with some tacit “support” King had for Austria’s Freedom Party (FPÕ) and the angst is due to their having been founded by former Nazis. If that were the measure, then all political parties in Germany must be disavowed right down to the CDU due to who founded them too. Lotsa pearl-clutching going on.
Should we now go after the associations of all progressive GOP members too, just to expose them to the light? No shortage of “hate” groups associated there, something tells me.
Sorry; make that FPÖ. (There’s no tilde in German.)
Ditto.
These so-called Jewish “leaders” are likely of the Reform sect - IOW, leftists, who are Jewish only in the ethnic sense.
Probably a part of the same cabal of “leaders” who demanded President Trump not come to Pittsburgh.
The only reply befitting these “leaders” is “GFY!”
And yet no one says a word about Farikhan
Are you willing to go on record denouncing ‘white nationalism’ and ‘white supremacy’

Trump’s retort should be “I don’t remember any Democrat disowning the support of Black Panthers, Louis Farrakhan, or the Council of La Raza.”

Trump should say. You are bringing race into the word, “Nationalism”. I love my country, it is you dicing up races and people.”
If we are white and love our country, of course we are “white” nationalists. Of course this by their pronouncement not ours.
Again no information by the leftist media, just charges.
Renaming the publication to “Over The Leftist Hill”.
