Staten Island Rep. Dan Donovan is locked in a surprisingly close race with Democratic challenger Max Rose, according to a poll released Tuesday.
Donovan leads Rose by 4 points 44 to 40 percent, the New York Times Upshot/Siena College survey found.
Green Party candidate Henry Gardel gets 1 percent and 15 percent of likely voters remain undecided, the poll said.
The 11th congressional district that encompasses Staten Island and southern Brooklyn has been considered a safe Republican seat.
Staten Island accounts for about 70 percent of the vote and Brooklyn 30 percent.

What’s up with this?
Fake polls?
Polls showed Hillary winning, too.
They always make it look bad for anyone other than a democrat.
..... Um .... Ya gotta be kidd’n me ......
Yeah, what’s up with this ?
Donovan wins by 10 pts
I have read two articles showcasing Rose, bashing Trump and saying Donovan was “Trump’s puppet”
Donovan probably wins by 10-12 points.
Bay Ridge is trending liberal because of Arabs and yuppie millennials moving in, pushing away the old school white conservatives
Definitely, I remember my disco days there at Bentleys.
That being said si is still a gop stronghold except the ferry area.
WOW! Another close race, all of the sudden.
This is what? The 5th or 6th such article today on races closing.
Color me suspicious.
Do you have any insight on this race?
Thank you.
Nobody is undecided.Push polling and nothing else.
It’s Staten Island, the only conservative part of NYC.
Yes, do you have any insight on whether Donovan will hold his seat?
I live here.
I got insigts
bull crap is the insight.
These Russians piling into brooklyn and staten island might make it a little tighter, but we Italians still own this place and we vote R
See post 17.
And you’re right.
The north shore which is black is the only thing that holds it back from being even more conservative.
We won it for Rudy and this seat IS SAFE
QUITE A FEW PEOPLE liked Grimm and may stay home because he did not get the nomination.
Not enough for a D to win though.
Plus to be frank, an Italian ALWAYS has a better chance to the hold the seat than an Irishman.
Old grudges die hard.
I live here.
You’re right.
