Global wildlife populations have fallen by 60% in just over four decades, as accelerating pollution, deforestation, climate change and other manmade factors have created a "mindblowing" crisis, the World Wildlife Fund has warned in a damning new report.
The total numbers of more than 4,000 mammal, bird, fish, reptile and amphibian species declined rapidly between 1970 and 2014, the Living Planet Report 2018 says.
Current rates of species extinction are now up to 1,000 times higher than before human involvement in animal ecosystems became a factor. The proportion of the planet's land that is free from human impact is projected to drop from a quarter to a tenth by 2050, as habitat removal, hunting, pollution, disease and climate change continue to spread, the organization added.
The group has called for an international treaty, modeled on the Paris climate agreement, to be drafted to protect wildlife and reverse human impacts on nature.
WWF UK Chief Executive Tanya Steele added in a statement, "We are the first generation to know we are destroying our planet and the last one that can do anything about it."

I guess they’re doomed then.
I wasn’t aware the World Wrestling Federation was concerned about the Climate. Is Hulk Hogan a Tree Hugger?
Oh wait...
What does Bobby “The Brain” Heenan think about nuclear disarmament?
Is it telethon time again?
As others have learned, constantly predicting the end of the world loses one credibility fast.
Nature survived Massive Volcanoes, Extension Level Asteroids, and many many warming and cooling cycles, but nature will never survive a wildlife organization leaflet
Even if we could save Nature Boy Ric Flair, would we want to?
If it isn’t on an APP then we are doomed...................
that Vince McMahon, always concerned about the environment!
If CNN says it, don’t even think of believing it.
Guess what, they’ll be saying that come the next generation.
How are these dear concerned folks adding up these numbers anyhow?
Something I suspect (with a frank creationist worldview, though I won’t argue about old earth vs. young earth) is that in countless little “corners” of the earth, species are sitting ready to go big time when the environment changes. So losing a lot of what we know (imagine in dinosaur days, oh no what will we do without these dinosaurs!) isn’t going to hurt the earth.
The only answer for the true believers so they don’t have to witness the sad nature death is to suicide this afternoon...not tomorrow. NOW! If they don’t, they are contributing to the death of Mother Nature. Nature-hating, self-centered basta***.
Didn’t Ted Danson say the oceans will rise so much that within 10 years both coasts would be underwater? Back in 1988. Still waiting......
Good Lord ...these people are so incredibly self important. I wouldnt be surprised if Eve had turned to Adam right after they got kicked out of Eden and said the same thing. Yet..here we are. At least Eve would have been close to the truth.

Still hoping!!!
That’s a blue wave we can all hope for. Flooding the east and west coasts!!! /s
I think that's one of those things that's pretty much always true. Such as "Free Beer Tomorrow!"
