DHS chief: Migrant caravan should turn around because they ‘are not getting in’

(National Sentinel) Denied: Homeland Security chief Kirstjen Nelsen said during an interview on Sunday that the migrant caravan traipsing towards the United States will “not get in” so they may as well turn around.

Reports over the weekend noted that about 1,700 mostly Central American migrants accepted an offer of asylum from Mexico. But thousands more refused, saying they want to be in the U.S.

But that’s not going to happen, Nelson said.

“There a legal way to get into this country. Those who choose to enter illegally will be stopped,” she told “Fox News Sunday.”

Nelson noted that most of those coming to the U.S. by caravan will likely try to claim they fear returning to their home countries and will attempt to seek asylum. That’s because they know how that works in the U.S.: They will be released into the country and told to return at a later date for an asylum hearing, but most don’t and simply disappear inside the country as illegal aliens.

That seems pretty clear to me. Don’t let any of them in.

Back in June when the Supreme Court rendered their verdict in Trump vs Hawaii, they cited that statute (1182) and reaffirmed that it grants the President broad powers over all areas of immigration.

With the stroke of a pen, he can (and always could) ban any class of aliens, if he believes that their entry conflicts with our national interest.

It seems he’s reluctant to do it now for whatever reason. It’s not like we don’t have a backlog of 10’s of millions of illegals already here in need of deportation. Why add more to the pile? /rhet

The prez says they are getting asylum. Because the asylum laws are so lenient this is a massive fail. He was elected to stop this nonsense. It was the only reason he was elected.

I’m guessing that unless the US military shoots, the invaders are getting in. I’d place the odds of them shooting at zero, so they are getting in. Once they are in they can exploit our system and apply for whatever BS refugee/amnesty thy want and will be released on their own recognizance to appear at their legal hearing. By then they will have disappeared into the shadows along with the other 50-75 million criminal invaders who preceded them.
