Its no secret that Attorney General Jeff Sessions days as Attorney General are numbered. The main questions are: (1) How will his exit be handled and (2) Who will replace him.
I have no insight as to the second question. One hears names like Matthew Whitaker (a former U.S. Attorney and University of Iowa football player who currently is Sessions chief of staff); Alex Azar, the Secretary of HHS (and not to confused with Alex Acosta); and Rep. John Ratcliffe (another former U.S. Attorney). However, I have no idea whether or to what degree these three (and others) are under consideration.
For me, a major concern is whether the new Attorney General will back leniency for drug felons legislation, something Sessions has vigorously opposed. I dont know the answer to that question, either.
As for the first question, I believe the Sessions exit will be handled badly and without class. According to this report by the AP, some of Sessions influential conservative supporters are asking the White House to allow for a graceful exit. What does that mean?
A scenario advocated by at least one Sessions ally, former Cincinnati Mayor Ken Blackwell, would allow him to remain on the job until January and be permitted to resign on his own then rather than be fired immediately after the midterms. Blackwell said allies have made their case to administration officials that Sessions has successfully pushed the presidents core priorities, including on illegal immigration, and deserves some sort of recognition from the White House that he has more than a passing grade....
It’s FITTON! And you are right, Clayman didn’t do much except flap his gums about what he was GOING TO DO, and fundraise off of it!
Thanks for the correction.
Not crispy cream..
Rudy.
As I see it Trump will simply thank him for his service and move on. There is no reason to antagonize anyone any more than has already been the case. Undoubtedly, Sessions has RINO buddies who remain in the Senate who would likely take offense if it was a blood-letting departure. Rosenschmeckel is another story. Trump should prosecute him for his dirty deeds with Mueller and others. If he ended up with a striped suit, so much the better. And while he’s “offing” people, get rid of that worthless d!ckhead, Wray too.
That reads just like something Trump would Tweet.
Seems like Ken Cuccinelli might want to extract a little skin from a few swamp dwellers.
Easy.
He will remove his foot from Sessions backside just before Sessions is forced to walk out the door.
NEVER AGAIN another Senator for AG.
HOW WILL TRUMP HANDLE SESSIONS DEPARTURE?
PARTEE! PARTEE!
I want a damned shark with the blood of our rivals in his nostrils.
” ... think Lindsay has been auditioning for the part.”
I hope Trump doesn’t fall for it. Sessions said lots of good things before becoming AG. All we got was a lost AL Senate seat and strong words against marijuana. Oh, and a Q cult that’s going to start to whine about Trump flipping to the deep state once their Oracle has been dethroned since some are not likely to admit that they were fooled (hey, it can happen to anyone, but some people think they’re better than others just because :-) ).

Oh now you did it. The resident q-defense thread spammer will hijack the thread, as usual, and drive more people off of fr.
I just hope the President cranks up Sweet Home Alabama as Sessions waves his final goodbye.
Rudy isn't the same man he was on 9/11. He's way past his 'sell by' date, in questionable health, and has already said he doesn't want the job.
Boy, you do like to swim against the tide, don't you?
The worse shame is that he didn't immediately tender his resignation.
Instead, he neutered the office of Attorney General by remaining in place, thereby providing the deep state coup plotters with a shield against exposure and prosecution.
One of the most egregious scandals in US history is quietly being swept under the rug, due to the cowardly inaction of Jeff Sessions.
I’ve been a Sessions fan for many, many years. It was Sessions meeting with Trump that helped Trump form the Trump agenda, well before he announced his run.
