Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) said America needed to send financial aid to stabilize Central America to decrease asylum-seeking immigrants. O’Rourke said, “If things are so desperate in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, that someone would risk their lives to come here than what can we do to improve situations there? We have invested trillions of dollars for wars in the Middle East. Could we invest some fraction of that to provide the stability in Northern triangle counties of Central America make sure people have a reason to stay and raise their families where they were born?”

Their problem isn’t lack of money.
And their every solution to EVERY problem amounts to sticking their hand in your pocket and giving your money to somebody else. Every stinking problem in their long laundry list has the same solution: give your money to somebody else.
You cannot fix socialist governments by throwing dollars at them. These economic disasters got that way by sucking up all the wealth from the producing sector. We can’t let them suck up out wealth.

The US is big and wealthy. This does not mean we have the resources to support all of the Third World.

Beto O’Rourke is quite a prolific fundraiser - he has $40+ million he can send right on down there (and campaign funds can be legally donated to charities).
If these billionaire and millionaire financiers that are organizing this stuff actually cared about making the world a better place, that is where they would be sending their money and focusing their efforts to improve lives, vs. spending all of it to disrupt the West and US in particular.
The US could send 100 trillion to countries south of the border; it would disappear without impact. The trouble is in their (our) souls.
Your 38 million will be a good start, Beto. Set an example. You’re not sending MY money.

Billions have been sent to Central American countries. It’s up to the citizens of Central America to make certain that aide is spent to benefit the citizens.
