We need to answer their constant drum beat about preexisting medical conditions.
Self | Self

Posted on 10/13/2018 6:23:53 PM PDT by Bellflower

Everywhere the opposition has ads poured out about how heartless the evil, mean Republicans are. They want to take healthcare away from poor, poor people with preexisting illnesses. All they care about are big corporate insurance companies. They are dirty, and bought and payed for by them.

If you are a good and decent person with any kind of heart at all you will vote for the good and decent Democrat, who cares about people and doesn't want to kill them.

Besides, really frightening, is the possibility that you or someone you care about could be, or eventually become one of those with a preexisting health condition. If so, you can be sure those evil Republicans will heartlessly leave you and your love one to die, too.

This pops up everywhere, but I haven't heard any Republican rebuttals. Maybe they are out there, but I haven't run into them. This seems to be the opposition's main ammunition. They have next to nothing but this tear jerker. They are trying to cause people to feel that if they are decent human beings they must vote for the lovely, compassionate Democrats, who care about people over big corporate insurance companies.

OK, isn't it obvious that since this is their constant drumbeat, their main ammo against us, that we need to address this, and address it fast, completely and convincingly? We need to target people's hearts, as well as their minds. We need to fight fire with fire.

What say all of you?

I support catastrophic coverage. Maybe targeted at cancer or traumatic accident. It should be cheap, because you probably won’t use it. And if you decide not to buy it, you have no one to blame but yourself if you get unlucky.

Too many people want to live in a “safe” society where nothing bad ever happens to anyone. And if it does happen, you gets lots of money. That’s foolish. Bad stuff happens, and you should be proactive and take personal responsibility for handling stuff as best you can. It’s not other people’s problem. It’s your problem.

people who didn't want to buy health insurance until they were already really sick.

Not necessarily. What about young people with pre-existing conditions who can no longer stay on their parents' policies? Young people like this have done nothing wrong or irresponsible but will have a difficult time getting medical insurance in their own name because of their chronic conditions.

Democrats are as evil as can be, but they are often way too effective in their wicked endeavors, because we don’t address their lies. We often are in a daze of our own making and choice. We can’t let them get away with their flaming accusations.

Make sure you distinguish between “health care” and “health insurance”.
No one is denied health care.

“It should be cheap, because you probably won’t use it”

Don’t be ridiculous. We are $20 trillion in debt over medical services provided in the last six months of life. This tendency is growing, not shrinking.

If you cover “catastrophes” - 100% of people will have one, eventually.

There is a difference between getting a new house and a Juvenal diabetic having affordable access to insulin.

I agree that charity care and charity hospitals need to be expanded.

we have incredible healthcare monoliths here in New England.

Big moneymaking operations that are non profits and part of the medical-industrial-insurance-government complex.

All of the top brass in these organizations collude enrich themselves.

Insurance is based on a gamble that people will not get sick.

______________

Insurance is a pool for when you do get sick

Okay Bellflower, you wish to do this your way.

Bellflower, are you still beating your wife??

Bellflower, a source says you hang around unattended children??

Bellflower, you do not care about fragile grandma when she is hurting.

Now, either respond apologetically in the enemy’s terms, me, or respond with your own assertions and emotional terms.

I suggest the latter. :-)

I am without insurance for the first time in my adult life and it is scary since I do have a chronic condition. It will be January before I can afford to get new policy and will be on medicare in Oct of 2019 so just trying to hold on until then. Cobra is too high and since I withdrew large amount from my 401-k my income is too high for this year until Jan to find insurance I can afford. Had this all planned differently but had to retire 6 mos sooner than expected so it’s not always that people are scamming the system.

I thought the system worked very well when Medicaid picked up coverage for the poor and needy. I don’t think Medicare is a good deal at all for the older folks though. The poor and worthless get better coverage than those who worked for 50 years. There is clearly room for improvement.

That’s called a high-risk pool. We had one in Maryland before the kenyan’s DeathCare was introduced. It worked pretty well. I have a friend who beat cancer while on the insurance she had through the high-risk pool.

I am 100% sure that medical services provided in the last 6 months of life is not the source of $20 Trillion in debt. It simply comes from spending more than taxes bring in. That is the inevitable result of outsourcing the money supply to a cabal of bankers.

We should have pre-existing conditions for car insurance too. Never pay for insurance, and if you total your car sign up with Geico and say “btw, you have to replace my car after you take my first month’s premium”

That is not how the clause for pre-existing conditions works.

Use State run Hugh Risk Pools. Individuals are charged more because they are higher risk and chose to remain uninsured until they needed coverage. Many states had effective High Risk programs prior to Obamacare.

Yes. That is true. A good point. Those are legitimate preexisting conditions.

Preexisting medical conditions translation: people who didn't want to buy health insurance until they were already really sick.

BS.

I know plenty of people with legitimate conditions that had to change coverage as they aged out of their parents coverage, or they got married and are now covered under their spouses plan, or got new jobs, had to move, whatever.

There are many legitimate reasons to continue coverage for someone with a pre-existant condition.

Not everyone is a dead beat who is too lazy to sign up for insurance until they need it.

So if you want to penalize people with health issues like diabetes, epilepsy, heart disease, etc, are you going to offer to help them pay for the care you don't want them to have?
