On another thread, someone claiming to be a nurse kept attacking me, saying I was full of it for having posted that a Cat 5 storm would shear pine forests like a giant scythe. These photos show it.

I am very fortunate. I live in Northern Holmes County. I got almost no damage, even my TV antenna is still good. Limbs all over my yard.

I even got power back although just about everything in the refrigerator is spoiled. Also got cell phone service back late Friday.

It really blew here too but nothing like other places.

...

In the US over 100 people die in transportation accidents each day.

Wood frame structures are just waiting to be blown away here in Florida. You gotta have CBS at least on the bottom floor to survive anything more than a Cat 2 hurricane and the resulting tornadoes.

You can see one structure intact in a large empty area - the only CBS construction in that neighborhood.

Amazing photos! Sorry for those folks, but life happens. More some places than others.

I think I accidentally killed my dog.

Yesterday I gave him a half pound of bacon which I was afraid to eat. Today he has disappeared. I began to wonder and looked it up. Bacon can be deadly to dogs.

At least 4 F-22’s were caught in their hangar at Tyndall AFB.

They might be able to be repaired.

These pics are horrifying! Prayers continue for these folks, and those participating in search/rescue and shelter operations.

Authorities are now saying at least 18 deaths have been caused by Hurricane Michael across four states. Michael crashed into the Florida Panhandle on October 10 as a powerful Category 4 storm, with sustained winds of 155 mph.

...

Those are the absolute maximum sustained winds measured in a small part of the storm with high technology.

I haven’t seen any winds measured yet on land where it hit. There probably aren’t any.

Photo #11 is pretty amazing. Everything is gone except for one house, and that house has little or no damage - no shingles gone, no windows broken.

That architect and builder are going to be rich and famous.

And they were oblivious, until the flood came and swept them all away. So will be the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.

Photo # 11 reminds me of pictures I have seen of Hiroshima & Nagasaki after we nuked them.

Awful, thanks for posting. What are the weirdest to me are seeing shots of blocks of buildings just gone, yet an isolated one or two still stand. I shared this on FB, they are pretty amazing shots.

What devastation photos. It makes you think, “Where do they start?”.

They should salvage all the lumber they can, it might be useful in the rebuilding process that lies ahead. There is bound to be countless doors, windows, etc that be reused.

If I lived in Mexico beach, I’d be looking for a new home.

My wife is from the Panhandle of Florida, and she’s always wanted to move back there (we live near Atlanta now) and buy a beach house...I don’t...and hurricanes are one of the reasons why. I lived through Hurricane Eloise there in the 1970’s and that was enough for me. I’m a Georgia (Landlubber) boy.

Godspeed those poor people who have been devastated by this storm.
