Had this happen near my house. A “Red Pine” stand of trees (hundreds) was laid flat by I don’t know what.
Mini tornado? UFO? It looked a lot like that photo.

In driving around I noticed, though, that the steel roofs fared much better than shingles. That does not seem to hold for the large buildings, especially the churches. Their roofs were uniformly shredded and twisted.

From what I've seen of Michael damage, I'm inclined to believe that had it been 30 years ago, it might have been rated as a mid-strong Cat 3 or a weak Cat 4.
