Much like a seven year old trying to change the rules of a game theyre losing Democrats have now decided that any institution that doesnt serve their purpose must destroyed. After the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh, the popular liberal publication Vox has now called for the abolition of the Supreme Court entirely.
the Court is now a blunt political instrument, used repeatedly to undermine outcomes of democratic governance the Vox article complains. While I cant prove it, I imagine theres a 0% chance Vox would be making the same complaint with a liberal court. The article continues,
its perfectly reasonable to ask if we should abolish the Supreme Court, or at the very least strip the Court of its ability to overturn laws that it rules unconstitutional. If the Court is no longer a neutral arbiter of the law, if its gradually shape-shifting into a partisan weapon, then maybe its time to rethink its role in our constitutional system.
Plenty of liberals have echoed such calls to abolish the SCOTUS, none of which existed prior to the nomination and eventual confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

“Vox” did not call for abolishing the SCOTUS. It is one writer discussing/channeling the ideas of ONE professor.
It is so tiresome to see how often people cannot distinguish between one writer’s opinions and the publication for which they happen to write.
It is possible, of course, that liberal pubs may start to give up on SCOTUS if it indeed shifts in a more conservative direction, but conservatives have endured decades of left/liberal jurisprudence polluting our nation’s courts — we have not generally called for abolition of judicial review but for REFORM in accordance with constitutional principles.
No, one constitutional amendment could do it, however unlikely that is. There is nothing about the “main body” of the US Constitution that is impervious to the amendment process set out in that constitution.

Vox is operating on the assumption that in a few years the Dems will control Congress and the presidency, but will have a conservative majority Supreme Court.
And I call for abolishing Vox, so what?
