Executives at ABC now believe that their decision to fire Roseanne Barr from their revival of Roseanne was a mistake and the networks spin-off series The Conners may flop, according to a report from Mail Online. Two senior executives at the network told the outlet that ABC President Channing Dungeys decision to immediately fire the actress and cancel her show after she made racially charged comments about former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett was a knee-jerk decision that they would later regret.
We didnt think it through properly. What Roseanne did was wrong but we shouldnt have rushed to fire her. It was almost a knee-jerk reaction by Ben [Sherwood] and Channing [Dungey] who should have launched an investigation, one insider reportedly said. This would have given them more time to listen to the public, advertisers and cast members to determine the best decision.
Barr compared Jarrett to if the Muslim brotherhood & Planet of the Apes had a baby, comments that were condemned by Dungey as abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values. Yet one insider apparently suggested that ABC should instead have temporarily suspended her before making a final decision.
They couldve suspended her from the first few episodes without pay and had her return later on in the season, the source explained. I mean the season finale saw Roseanne going to the hospital for knee surgery. While they worked out her fate, her character could have faced serious complications and fought for her life, while simultaneously making Roseanne fight for her career with a national apology tour.
The morning the racist tweet scandal blew up, Roseanne offered to publicly apologize and do the rounds of every show but Ben and Channing werent having any of that and wanted her gone, they continued.

Hell. They are Liberals. What else could we expect? Reason? Logic? LMAO!
It is remarkable that they didn't even try to weather the storm. The "controversial tweet" probably would have blown over. If it didn't, and the network got boycotted, they could have fired her then. It really smells like they were looking for a reason to get rid of Roseanne and jumped on the first thing that came along. I hope all the people that lose their jobs are rabid leftists.
but their virtue signaling felt good at that moment. With leftards, motives of immediate interests and emotionalism takes precedence over long run interests and reason
It's not that hard to do. The soaps have done this same thing for decades. Even Dallas brought back to life a dead character. Roseanne can wake up in a hospital hooked up to all sorts of i.v.s and monitors. She overdosed & hallucinated while in a coma that she was dead and the family carried on without her, and voila! She awakens from the coma and goes back home to be the matriarch she always was.
Such BS....comparing someones looks to a character from the movie Planet of the Apes is not racially charged.
Hire her back.
RE Taylor Swift. I don’t know what she considers her home state as she has homes in Nashville, Cape Cod, Manhattan, & elsewhere. I saw an article where she owns 8 homes in four states. I did look for a voter’s registration for her in TN, but could not find evidence that she even votes in TN.
Most will acknowledge that Valerie Jarrett objectively resembles POTA characters much more closely than do most other public figures.
In July, Jim Jordan was scheduled as the main speaker for my county Republican central committee fundraising dinner. In July, the stories about abuse of college wrestlers came out. Our RCC was asked (by certain powers) to uninvite him or resked the event. I whipped votes to reject that suggestion. A few days later the accusations began to collapse.
Congressman Louis Gohmert, in a conversation with me several weeks ago, suggests that we “saved this good man’s” candidacy for Speaker. I’m not sure I’d go that far, but thinking back on it I believe our canceling the invite would have resulted in press releases from DCCC and other groups.
Gohmert might be our speaker next year. He was receptive to the idea when I asked him.
Or Married With Children which, after Katey Sagal miscarried, did a big “nevermind” on a pregnancy story line and went on as if it had never occurred.
Here is my prediction.
The first Episode will get large Ratings due to the curiosity factor. People will want to see how they killed off the Rosanne Character.
The Ratings will then slide week to week as the Liberal BS overshadows any semblance of Comedy.
It will become the new Murphy Brown.
Your “It was only a dream” scenario is probably the only one in the world of entertainment that would work. I’d watch it just because.
Instead of Planet of the Apes, Rosanne should have compared her with the Lizard Alien Queen on V.
Oh! I can asure them it will flop!!!
They fired Barr “hastily” and now the spin-off is going to go bust too.
#GetWokeGoBroke
Am I the only one who had no idea The Lizard Queen’s Father was Black? I know Roseanne had no idea.
Little did I know my Mom was ‘racially charged’ when she called me a little monkey.
Sounds like the producers and executives viewing the show find it “not funny.
I am not sure whether it has been seen by the public yet.
It’s amost certain to flop, why do they realize that just now?
