I think the point is that the blue slips cannot be used to override unless the Chairman of the judicial committee treats blue slips in this manner. Grassley does not and he included historical precedent showing most other chairmen have not allowed nullification by not returning blue slips. It’s just something Feinstein can use to whine about & motivate her base.

Thanks for the clarification on this issue.

The courts and the administrative state is where the Dims power lies when they are the minority.
True that - technically, they are
never out of power even when elections don't go their way. That needs to be disrupted and hopefully there will be 8 years to do it.

I thought, incorrectly it appears, that the Senate had done away with blue slips for judicial appointments. From the dreaded Wikipedia:
A report issued by the Congressional Research Service in 2003 defines six periods in the use of the blue slip by the Senate:[snip]January 3, 2018 - present: "The lack of two positive blue slips will not necessarily preclude a circuit-court nominee from receiving a hearing unless the White House failed to consult with home-state senators. Hearings are unlikely for district court nominees without two positive blue slips."
Swinestein 'bout destroyed her career with all the Kav contortions.

I would love to see a stake in its evil heart. Good news about Walker. I can’t believe the voters in WS would not re-elect the best governor in the country.
He was the first to fight the mob.

Last night the White House moved forward without consulting me, picking controversial candidates from its initial list and another individual with no judicial experience who had not previously been suggested, Feinstein said in a statement. Well, boo hoo......
The pick is not controversial. You're just saying that to make it so.
And since when does the president need YOUR permission to do something?
HE is the president, not you. Get over yourself.

I realized long ago the Democrat Party was not going to offer me quarter if they took power. I was right.
So I offer none either...

It’s because of a Senate rule that defers nominees from their home state the gift of running it by them. I believe the Senate rule is a courtesy and not a requirement needing a rule change like the filibuster.
To: Helicondelta
Traditionally, presidents have deferred to home state senators when nominating federal judges, agreeing not to nominate people unless those senators returned their blue slip in support of the prospective judge.

Just one of the reasons that the judiciary of that circuit are nutty as fruit cakes.
So did Obama appoint any conservative judges? No? Well, guess Trump is just following tradition - appointing judges more in line with his party.

Ill admit, Im amazed at Trumps performance. The guy has balls, thrives on a good fight, and keeps his promises.
The primary reason I voted for this guy because he is not really a conservative. BUT I was disappointed when Trump agreed to that stupid demand by rinse prepus & the GOP that he not run as a 3rd party. I had really hoped we would finally see the GOP be put out of it's miserable wimpy existence.

Instead of working with our office to identify consensus nominees for the 9th Circuit, the White House continues to try to pack the courts with partisan judges who will blindly support the Presidents agenda, instead of acting as an independent check on this Administration, Lily Adams, Harris communications director, said in a statement.
you mean like your black jesus did?Paging the Boo Hoo girl -

President Trump has been elected by the result of no less than divine intervention. He is your Lord and master as chosen by the Creator.
