Democrats need 90% black turnout and 90% black support in order to win elections on a national scale. Anything that erodes either number is a mortal threat. And they must be sensing softness, if not outright desertion in the face of three factors:
1. Blacks have done far better under Trump than Obama in terms of rising employment opportunities and rising wages. The growth in manufacturing employment in particular has pushed up wages in the segments of the labor market with heavy black participation. Very few people of any color prefer life on food stamps and unemployment insurance to gainful employment at rising wages.
2. The enthusiastic support of Kanye West, slated to visit the White House along with football icon ”Big Jim” Brown (as President Trump affectionately calls him), powerfully diminishes the ability of Democrats to call on ethnic solidarity to spike turnout and support.
3. The Democrats’ embrace of political correctness is very unattractive to black voters. Steven Hayward of Powerline cites a startling study revealing the depth of repugnance felt by blacks and Hispanics toward PC:
Asians (82 percent), Hispanics (87 percent), and American Indians (88 percent) who are most likely to oppose political correctness. . .
Three quarters of African Americans oppose political correctness.
So acute is this fear of desertion that members of a CNN panel resorted to the other N-Word (Negro) to insult Kanye West. Victor Morton reports in the Washington Times:

LBJ said he would have them voting for Dems for decades, WELL decades are up and they are leaving the plantation!!!!
Fox's viewing numbers exceed CNN and MSNBC combined. But I'd be surprised if reruns of that dead afro'd painting guy on PBS don't.
I wish that magic negro would disappear, it’s more annoying than a fruit fly wanting to drown in your beer.
What the dem party did to Blacks is far worse than slavery.
I've repeatedly explained to Freepers that that word is now considered to be a racial slur by blacks, but I just get harangued and slapped around for my troubles.
It's been revived on this website for some time now. I've objected, but I just get shot down for it.
For sure. One day he’ll return to Hell.
I suppose that's right, but we rarely do. Even amongst ourselves.
The term has been out of favor among blacks since the mid sixties.
Clearly descriptive, rather than racist. I remember an episode of the old Jack Benny program in which Jack's butler Rochester was referred to in a conversation as "a colored gentleman". Said today that would trigger an offense reation in many.
Jack’s butler Rochester was referred to in a conversation as “a colored gentleman”.
What’s the difference between a colored gentleman and a gentleman of color? For me they are interchangeable and I’ll use the former way before I’ll ever use the latter.
A bit hyperbolic. No group turns out 90%. Ever.
Sloppy writing. What the author meant, is that Democrats need blacks to vote for them at a rate of 90%, which they've been doing for well over half a century.
About 8% of blacks are staunch Republican voters. If the Dems lose another 10% of the black vote to the Republicans, they're doomed.
However he really didnt say black community did he?
No, he said "I'll have those niggers voting Democratic for 200 years." That was back in the days before black or African American were in style and most of us on the right said "colored" or "negro".
How ‘bout Kingfish?
No, it's not.
The term, 'Negro', has been out of favor among blacks since the mid sixties. If you don't think it's offensive, try calling a black person 'negro' to their face.
I'm telling you this as a black man, so consider yourself informed.
Thanks for saying that, Bert. You really get it.
There's a reason you've rarely heard the term since the mid sixties. It's because blacks in this country began to reject the term around that time.
By 1970, it was considered by most blacks to be an offensive label from the Jim Crow era. That remains the common perception among blacks to this day.

This sort of language has been a pet peeve of mine since the early 1970’s when we started changing labels with the idea that the label somehow changed the thing being labelled. Cripples became disabled, but once it meant, in people’s heads, the same thing that crippled meant, it became “differently abled, to somehow suggest it was now something different.
The only labels that are a problem are the ones meant as insults, like the N word, or “spear chucker” or “wetback, or “Cracker” or “honkey”. Etc.
Negro means one thing, unlike the N word. It is not a derogatory word. It identifies one as a member of a specific race. What is really funny is that when I was a kid, calling Negroes “black” was an insult. Then it became the preferred word. In my old age I just fall back on more “technical” descriptions. Negro, Caucasian, Asian, Polynesian, Middle eastern, Aryan, etc. And as you probably well know, even some of those are subjective.
On a side note, I was at a large group dinner with a client that was from Iran and someone mentioned middle eastern Arabs regarding Iran. I said that Iranians are Aryan. He was shocked and very appreciative. He said I was the first person in the US he met that knew that.
Race and labels are a big deal for me, as is my hatred of PC.
The most important question is this - Why should we allow groups to dictate what words are acceptable or not?
People only began using the word 'negro' as a pejorative after it fell out of favor amongst blacks, which was over half a century ago.
Now that you know this, understand that any black person seeing or hearing you use it, will consider themselves insulted.
So in your analysis, there's no such thing as a racial slur?
What you personally think of the term 'negro' is of little consequence. The fact is, the vast majority of blacks in this country reject the term, and consider it a racial slur.
As I recall, he said "200 years."
His prediction has held for over half a century, but now seems to be unraveling.
